The Brits move to clamp down on shotguns

Maybe becoming the 51st state isn’t so bad….

Why not just have strict gun laws in the GTA where they vote Liberal. Leave us alone in Western Kanuckistan.
The eastern folk dont want the libs either...they need ti be stripped of party status ...we dont need Trudeau's gang...or carneys carnival ...

We will see what happens when or if there is an election.

Rural ON is a minority as well.
Seems urban ( cities ) are all for rules, many of them never held a firearm or used one, but raised with the mindset that firearms are evil and the hunters are causing the need for said laws... Sad when you see some comments people make .

My wife and I have regularly visited London on average twice a year, we’ve now stopped going as it’s become an Islamist cesspool. The city is lost as Britain is quickly becoming lost. We are not far behind with the liberal immigration and migration policies. Don’t kid yourself this needs to be first stopped and then completely reversed in all western countries by millions upon millions of deportations, even those who have citizenship.
Brampton is soon (if not already) an extension of India now known as West India

Wasn't Mark Carney the Govenor of the Bank of England and didn't he say he will continue with the gun ban? Now as the installed not elected PM - he has the power to screw us by increasing the carbon taxes and banning more firearms as he see's fit.

He is going to visit Kier Starmer the leader of the Labor (Socialist Party) he is notable for his socialist beliefs and has been outspoken about his desire to confront inequality and injustice. In other words he's WOKE / WEF and a DEI supporter. Not good for Canada - they were not kidding when they said he is Justin Trudeau 2.0 on steroids.

Friends we have to make sure everyone votes for the Conservative Party because Canada as we have known it will be destroyed. Who will be paying for all his socialist ideologies? and what happens when they run out of other peoples money to pay for it.

Any CPC members best get trained up in the east and get door knocking. I have no idea on how to convince people that PP is the solution. At least the eastern vote matters….

A guy told me yesterday( not lefty in the least) he didn't know who to vote for cuz Polievre " scared" him. WTF. I told him was nuts. The PM of Canada does not have the power that the President of US has.
People are stupid. They believe the mudslinging ads. Saw one yesterday that Polievre was going to scrap Medicare and move to a for profit medical system. What a bunch of bs. Never been even a mention of anything like that. But people seem to suck it right up. Nine years of misery and corruption and some voters seem to have developed amnesia.

I know a few people who will not vote PC because Diefenbacher was PC and he cancelled the Avro Arrow.
For real...i can't make up this absurdity.
What a ridiculous mindset...that was 70yrs ago!!!!

In that article they touch on a bunch of different things and one is the state of the NHS.

I was back for a brief trip in January to see a sick family member and had to visit the local hospital. It was like a Mardi Gras in there (minus the fanfare and cheer), people all over the over the place to the point that they were lined up in the corridors etc. Seemed to be way overcrowded.

Fast forward a couple of weeks and the same person had to go back to hospital via Ambulance and when we called the Doctor told us that they couldn't find them (which was very alarming as they have early stage dementia). In the end they found them, still in the Ambulance several hours later. It all felt very disorganized and stretched.

I recently heard that the population there is up to 70 million. It sure seems like the services haven't been keeping up with this increase in population hence the shortfall I witnessed. Feels a bit like Canada only worse.

....
Apparently NHS takes everyone who presents at the doors. A year ago an ex-pat Brit friend was in UK for his mother's funeral. A night or two into the trip he had some acutely painful but not lethal symptoms. Off the the nearby hospital. 'Oh yes, Mr "Smith" do you still live at 123 Bumbleberry Lane?" That hasn't been his address since his adult children were in school, but knowing how to keep his mouth shut, he said nodded and mumbled. "Over there please, have a seat and someone will see you." He was treated by NHS not once but three times! without being a British resident for decades.

I know someone whose political awareness is simplistically, 'the Liberals have always been good for the farmers'.

Ask him how starting a trade war with our biggest canola customer triggering a Tardif on canola “good for farmers”? BTW, this is not the first time than federal Liberals have thrown western Canadian farmers under the bus to support an eastern industry.

Oh! I would try but talking politics with that generation isn't productive. Like the comment above about voters still mad at a dead Dief' for cancelling an overbudget and overhyped experimental aircraft that would bankrupt the country deeper in the past that 3/4 of adult Canadians are alive.

Canola oil isn’t food
Very little in a typical modern North American diet, while “ edible” hardly can be called “food”. I personally won’t eat most of it (including canola oil) but that is just me. If the Chinese want to eat it, and our farmers can make a living growing it for those markets, I support that 100%. I’m no where near narcissistic enough to presume what OTHERS choose to eat is my business in any way.

After many decades of being a country boy working in Ottawa, it seems to me that urban people cannot think for themselves, consider government to know best and be benevolent, only feel that government is doing its job if it is constantly changing things and passing new rules and legislation, and want to live under being governed hard. This applies to everything and not just firearms.

This wasn't my experience at all.

I had a whoopsie when I was there and snapped my wrist necessitating several nights in hospital and an operation to bolt it all back together,

I had lived there for over 30 years and paid taxes for almost 20 years but have been gone around 10 years.

The hospital quickly sent a "Debt Collector" type person to see me in the ward to advise that I wasn't covered under the NHS and ask how would I be paying. I have insurance (several) so not an issue, had that not been the case I would have left there almost $14,000 lighter.
