The CANADIAN Ruger Gunsight Scout Discussion Thread

I'd like to see one in .243 or 7mm-08 mayhaps. I like shooting the 223/5.56 but it's it's not a do all caliber. It's a great backup rifle to my AR. Be nice to get polymer factory magazines eventually.

I share your sentiment...... I now have the .223 version to accompany my .308...... While the ten rounder is nice for range use and plinking, it makes for a crappy carry rifle...... The .308 with a 3 round mag is perfect and easy to balance while carrying by hand....... I sure hope someone comes out with a polymer 3 or 4 rounder for the .223......

I personally would not want one in a 223..... if anything, I am surprised they wouldnt bring one out in a larger caliber instead of smaller..... oddd for sure

What made you change your mind? ;)

When I switched my collection around, and picked up the .243 m77 compact, I got rid of the rem 799 in .223..... Then I realized I missed the .223 (cheaper to shoot, great plinking gun at camp for longer range shots than a 22 etc and great pest reducer......

So, in came the scout...... The adjustable LOP is handy as well and since my oldest is 12 and has a small frame, he should be able to shoot the .223 in the scout....

had my GSR out to 670 yards tonight, shooting really well with the 208gr Hornady ELD-Match over Varget. 10x Vortex scope

hope to push it to 900+ yards in the next week

Low for the .308, but if it works it works...... And that is a heavy pill (I like it).....

I am tossing 180's from mine and have some incredible sub MOA groups to show for it over 43gr of Varget....

It's a deer dogging is for me, so not trying to stretch it out but you are certainly answering my questions in regards to "could I?"

I had them up to 2340 fps (40.7grs Varget) but the accuracy is better slowed down to an optimal barrel time node

Finally got out yesterday to try some loads out of my scout.

Finished off the day with a 3/4" group shooting 150AB. Still got a few more to try next time before deciding on a load, but the 375 was putting the hurt on the bench, so i had to stop.

I bought one last week , it's the SS/ Black laminated in .556 version,
This week end I ad a chance to try it , I shot 3 mags ( 30 rounds) with and on each mag the first 2 rounds and going well in the chamber but the 8 others I got ftf , It seems that the bolt was not able to catch the round in the mag or it put the round half way out the mag and lose it, could be because I was shooting cheap American eagle AR .223 ammo?
By the way I am still pretty happy
here's a pics :)

My polymer mags in .308 are inconsistent for feeding with only 1 or 2 rounds loaded. the more spring tension the better the reliability.
