I have decided my first CZ rifle will be the CZ 457 Varmint .22LR with 20 inch barrel

I have now started another thread in the Optics Forum on which scope to mount on it .

I’ve been debating on getting one.
I’m looking at the synthetic and putting on an IBI barrel and MDT chassis.
Or just buying the CZ 457 Varmint in the MDT XRS with 20” barrel
Or get the LRP
 
I realize it's not a 457. But prophit rivers got a beautifull CZ 452 2E ZKM American farwell. 1 of 1000 made. Damn fine looking peace. Really wish I had the funds, because if I was to buy a 452 it would be one of these. Some lucky persons guna get a hell of a rifle with that one.

Just to stir the muddy water a bit more, you may want to look at 457 lux or premium if you like European look-and-feel.
They have beautiful wood stocks (premium is a bit better than lux, cost about 100 more), and long barrels (about 24”), and iron sights.
I like my premium, cost less than half of my Vudoo action but shoot well and eats any type of ammo’s

The Lux stocks are fantastic for irons. I actually have both an American and the lux stock, everyone I've shown them to seems to like the European style far more.
 
I think I read that somewhere in my Internet travels those drop down rear stocks ( don’t know the correct terminology ) are suited to iron sites more so than scopes but that’s just what I read . I would not know !

Those of you that have CZ 457’s that are not match quality how are you finding their accuracy ? Some comments in the videos suggest all sorts of ideas concerning amongst issues that the 457’ are not as good accuracy wise as their previous models .
I have seen some YouTube videos where they have gone through a plethora of ammunition and not got good groups .

I hope this is not the case as I have the CZ Varmint .22 LR coming my way .

Define what accuracy are you expecting? Sub MOA? You are not going to get it at least consistently every time regardless match or non-match barrel.
CZ is never built for that purpose. Of course anecdotally someone may claim they can hit 1 inch hole from 100 yards all day long. I’m not going to dispute that.
Accuracy depends on lots of things, barrel and action are just part of it. Stocks, ammos also play big role.
So far I have owned and still own most of the main stream big brands such as CZ, ruger and all the way up to RimX Vudoo Anschutz, I can tell you that from time to time there were always some flyers in a group regardless what brand/lot ammos I use.
This topic has been long discussed and the fact that people are still debating/arguing about that tells you that consistent accuracy is a fantasy. 22lr is inherently inconsistent.
I believe someone is on his way to lecture me. But let me let you this, look at that 100 yard challenge thread in this forum, you can see how inconsistent it is.
But to me the inconsistency is part of the game, it’s a fun.
I know it’s not the answer you are looking for. But you will never get a consensus with regards ton which rifle/ammo is the most accuracy anyway

Well.. my cz457 american is in 22mag. I had initially wanted 17hmr due to 22mag being a notso accurate round.. local LGS had the 22mag and i bought it after holding it..
accuracy.. so far, i found A22 ammo will consistently shoot 5 rounds in a group that is covered completely over by a dime… shot from prone at 25yards .. 4 targets .. repeatable even with hot barrel… scope was an old bushnell 3x9
..not as accurate as my cz452 varmint but for a 22mag, its wonderful !!
It is light in weight… great in the bush
Since.. ive bought 2 more bulk packs of A22.. good stuff
 
I’m personally not convinced that the 457 platform(non MTR) is any more or less accurate than the 452/3/5. But it’s my experience/opinion that the 457 triggers make them easier to be more consistent with.
 
This is my CZ457 Varmint that I bought 2 months ago. It’s topped off with a Vortex Venom 5-25 and a Haoge Arca Swiss 300mm rail I bought on Amazon. I screwed it into the wooden stock with 6 screws, very solid fit.
