Hey guys...

so im looking into buying a desert eagle in the next few months, and had some questions...if anyone can offer some assistance, it would be greatly appreciated.

First off, the gun is really just for show...im looking at getting it in the 24K gold, or the titanium gold finish...whats the difference in terms of performance..or is it just a look thing?

Secondly...is calibre...ideally id like a .50AE just to say that i own the big hand-cannon...although factory ammo is super-expensive, and although reloading is cheaper...the brass and bullets will still add up pretty quick. I already own a .357mag revolver, so i was considering getting the DE chambered in that...save cost on reloading, and still get the "look" and stigma of full .50 Desert Eagle..

Third is where the hell can i buy one in canada?!?!

Lastly is cost...for the most part, cost doesnt really matter, although i wouldnt be hesistant to check out some used models, again...how do they hold up over the years?

GUNNAR AT ARMACO HAS A DE IN 44MAG check out his web site on top of this page

id really recommend the 357 magnum over the two others.
relatively a lot cheaper, more common ammo, more pleasant to shoot, higher mag capacity,

now does the .357 model shoot the exact same ammo as the revolver? like the rimmed stuff? or do i need special brass (like normal pistol brass)

on top of that...do i need completely different dies for it? or can i use the same ones?

Define "performance". The 24K gold is a show-only finish, not suited to a gun that will be fired (according to MRI) because of softness. The titanium gold finish is tough enough to use.

If you're going DE, go large. Nothing says "bang" like a .50AE, and the large bore can result in good flamage.

yup go big or go home. get the .50 ammo isn't as hard to come by anymore.

if you already have a .357 go for the 44mag load with hog110 lots of flamage great kick and on top of it you get another caliber
yes and once your set up with all the loading equiptment
for 44mag then u get yourself a 44mag carabine. good
short range bush gun. carbide dies, no lube fast and cheap to load for
2 cent pls

I shot the 44 Mag recently, its big, noisy, kicks like a mule and is amazinly accurate for a hand cannon. 6 rounds was plenty, wouldn't want to shoot it all day long.

.357mag uses the same ammo as your revolver! but DE is too big for .357mag IMO.

I've shot a DE in .44mag and .50AE and they feel almost the same. Only .50AE ammo costs a fortune, even if you reload... I relaod .44mag for the price of factory 9mm

.44mag is the way to go!

maybe you should get your PAL and actually use a gun before getting a Desert Eagle, because it's obvious you haven't done either yet

A few months ago I'd have said get the .44magnum and don't look back, however, since getting into reloading for the 10mm Auto, I'd now totally go with a .50AE just for the hell of it :D (If you are not going to reload, definitely go .44magnum)

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm... might be my next pistol as well ;)

EDIT: Second thought, go with the .44magnum. I just tried searching online for a source for .50AE components in Canada and no luck. Lots of 500 S&W though if you want a bad-ass revolver, sadly it looks like the novelty of the .50AE is on its last legs (if we lived in the US though, no problem.)

was gonna buy one in .44 last week... Made the mistake of telling my wife... her exact words were what are you gonna you THAT for...
  • I said squirrel hunting... She said I don't need to hunt squirrels...
  • I said home defense she said I thought that's what these were for points at SAFE #1....
  • I said, OK, I'll compete with it she said I thought that's what those were for pointing at SAFE #2
  • I said it looks pretty just like you .. She said I thought that's what those were for pointing at SAFE #3
  • I said do you want it.. She said No and you used that one these SAFE #4.....
  • I'm a collector (she starts to point at... you guessed it... SAFE #5) So I gave up..
Now I'm not sure whats gonna happen as the boxes start to arrive... Since there are 5 either enroute or that are waiting on permits/transfers or me to actually pay for

So I guess I need to come up with a another couple safes and a few more reasons...

How many pairs of shoes does your wife buy a year?

My wife has bought four pairs in the last month and a half. So I MUST buy four more guns..................;)

I maybe 2 and usually only because the pair she has is about to fall apart I think she may own 4 pairs total... I have way more guns then that
