The Downside of Being a Lifelong Trophy Hunter......

I hold three Journeyman certifications in the electrical trade and opened my own electrical business 31 years ago. I developed a niche in the Yukon fixing generators and wiring camps and evolved into building diesel generators for sale, lease and rental. I also developed an industry of flying out to do service calls and repairs after attaining my commercial pilots license, after a few years of renting I purchased my own aircraft and continue today doing fly-out service, on my fourth bird, but the service remains the same.
Prioritising time and money is what it's all about, some guys have a few extra bucks and buy themselves a new pickup, I went to Africa 7 or 8 times, Asia several times, Europe etc............I have no qualms driving a 10 year old pickup, my status in the world doesn't revolve around driving a new truck every year, as it seems to with other guys.
I worked 16+ hrs a day for the first 10 years in business and offered 24 hr a day service, that's the only way I know how to succeed.............
I also started another business and bought another business and then put the two together (bought out the competition) and sold it a few years back. It's amazing how the disposable income builds up when you have no more mortgage and you get rid of a wife who's been stealing 50-100K a year.............(she ran the office and the books)

Sounds like you put in a lot of hard work and long days for what you want and have been successful, good on ya! Good luck on your retirement, I'm sure hunting is only going to be more frequent now!

I seem to git along soo much better with me wifie when I'm or she's not home.
Way less nagg'in too.
She likes to text and I don't.

Congrats man. Sounds pretty familiar minus the wife that left. Thats still to come ii hope not. I spent some moto camping time around that lake last year and I will say you have picked an awesome place to spend some time. Enjoy big time. You earned it.!!!

I feel your pain, just not quite of the same magnitude!

I moved 2 summers in a row.... Don't ask....

The first move was a supreme bit*h!

The second move, I paired down the "collection" to 60 long guns and 24 restricteds..... 3800lbs of ammo and components. Another 1600lbs in "related gear"....... I actually sold just shy of 2000# of lead in ingots..... I just couldn't move it, again!

It wouldn't be quite so bad, but I have another move, to the "retirement" house, but I can push that to at 20yrs down the road.....

I seriously asked myself if I could live my life with just 1 long gun and one pistol......

The short answer is no....

Good luck sir!

I'm feeling really inadequate right now..... I hit a milestone last year. I have harvested at least one of each big game species in SK....... I thought I was doing pretty good.....

I also did a bunch of measuring today and I have it down to the 1/2", the last mount in will be the life mount polar bear and I should have 2" to spare as I close the doors.................................

That doesn't leave a lot of room for the peanuts...

And here I thought my meager collection of 6 shoulder mounts, 7 Euro mounts, and 15ish shed pairings were a bugger. You have definitely lived a rich hunting life.

Lol... ok... derail I full force... I am a classic vette owner so I must see.... mine is my classic for life.... and I bought her 15 years ago when I had less child related responsibility....
