The first bullet you used to kill something

I saved the casing from the 1st turkey I shot .
But as far as deer go , the good ol' Lee Enfield loaded up with 180gr CXP3 .303brit has always been a total passthrough and the brass is flung out without any regard.

somewhere kicking around i have a piece of buckshot from my first deer. not sure where though. i have never recovered a bullet from a deer, closest i have come is a piece of the jacket. and a .22 slug from another deer (this had healed nicely, must have been an old injury).

first deer i shot was with a 12 ga slug at about 30 yards. recovered the flattened slug, and its still sitting on top of my gun cabinet. that was the first and last recovered that ive had in 15 years deer hunting :D

1st big game

many many grouse with sxs 16 g. but 1st deer was with 6.5x55 sweede .it was quartering away , perfect expansion ,found bullet just poping through skin on far side. it had hit a leg .sits in my safe by my snap caps. not sure why i kept it but glad i did.

No bullet have the case in my gun cabinet with a bunch of other memories. The stuff that
will sooth the soul when the legs are not so willen to travel the trail.

I've only ever recovered 3 of my own bullets. have saved each one, in film canisters with a little card that describes the distance, MV and animal positioning.

I was keeping all my recovered kill shot until just about a week ago. I had a good collection of them and I had forgotten what killed what. I just tossed them in the garbage.

would have been a 130gr soft point from one of those cheapie federal bonus packs that you used to buy at CO-OP or Peavy Mart. 6x5 whitetail at about 150 yards. Never forget it!

.308 Rem 150gr core lock PSP aimed at the neck broke the spine clean. I had the spike "rack" mounted as it was my 1st, and kept the brass, I tought I'll drill the wood and set the brass on it.

8 years old Red Ryder against my two sisters wishes killed about 7,465,700 birds ,robin red breasts, sparows, blue birds, humming birds, anything that flew or set on wires or walked! Then I just kind of realized that God had made more birds than I could ever shoot, and just quit . Kind of like a drunk realizes that they can make more whisky than you can buy or drink!

I can atribute my shooting skills to the red Ryder,as it has the same trajectory of the .45acp (and you can see both as they leave the barrel).

about 4000000 .177 copperhead bbs from a daisy red rider. I recovered some of them from granry and barn floors and reused them if I couldnt get to town to buy more. life was good then, now I have 2 jobs... lol

Except for all the .177 pellets my first big game kill was with a .22 on a moose.Statute of limitations has expired by now,I was 12 years old.:D

30-30 , and still have the lead. moose quartered away, shot from angle through the vitals and stopped dead at the opposite front quarter.
