The FN C1A1 mystique - from "if you could have just one prohib"

Last C1 I saw for sale was $1400, last C2 (C1 receiver) was $2000. You pay a "home team" premium. (L1A1s go for $500-$800 at the moment, Indians for $400 or less). Local prices may vary, but this seems to be the going rate. (The last 12-5 FN-FAL that I saw, metric not C1/L1 was $2000, but I think that was a bit too high).

Back in "the day", I humped the FN C1 & C2 for 13 years and the C7 for 15 years. Shooting the 500 yd deliberate with the FN I would generally score 27/35, with the C7, 29/35. Which rifle stood up to the abuse generated by a group of young infanteers... the FN of course. Given the "dedicated marksmanship" programs now being generated in North America, maybe a 7.62mm rifle was a good idea. Given the fact that the M16/C7 is still being "improved" 50 years after its inception, maybe it wasn't the best choice. As for the weight issue, to a young infanteer humping in excess of 54 pounds of assorted kit, your body adapted to the rifle. To somebody in their '60's, I'll give you the fact that its heavy.

And gentlemen that would be cheap here in the Us a true C1 would go for $2500 to $3500 and a true C-2 well you could sent your own price the last C-2 copy i saw sell was sold for $ 7500 and it had a DSA inch receiver so it was not even a true C-2.
I have a large collection of FALs and Inch rifles and i still have not got the HOLY GRAIL of Fals
