The FN FS2000: Thoughts, observations, and range report

The FN2000 has lots of "air and space" enclosed under the plastic skin.

Some of the space in the stock behind the magazine is used for a battery pack in the F2000. Battery is for the grenade launcher aiming module and potentially other powered accessories.

I do have to admit, the FN 2000 looks like it came right from the HALO video game series...

Ah yes, the BR55A1 Battle Rifle. Good Stuff when you're defending the planet from invading alien armadas:D

All i have to say is fantastic post. I don't think this rifle will ever be within my means but its great to see such a picture rich writeup about it, thank you!

Master-G. Bravo. This was quite likely one of the best reviews I have ever read on this site and you have set the bar very high for anyone else who does one of these.

Your grammar was excellent, little if any spelling errors, and the information was succinct and to the point. The pictures were fantastic and formatted wonderfully.

Thank you for restoring my faith in this site. I look forward to any review that you do. Nice set up with the FS2000 and I know you will enjoy it.

I've used the F2000 in the US (Scottsdale Gun Club has one you can rent), it's very similar to the AUG, I'm pretty confident FN had one nearby when they came up with it. It's just more bulky, I particularly don't like the forend and although there is a vertical foregrip available it's not as user-friendly as the one on the AUG. The only thing it really has over the AUG is that it is ambidextrous.

Even the trigger pull feels like an AUG, although it at least has a proper selector switch unlike the AUG.

So buy an AUG instead. Oh, right...

Got one recently. Now I'm struggling to accept the idea to punch holes in paper with 3000$ rifle (and I already put deposit on rebarreling it, so in couple months (hopefully) it'll be NR)...
Should I buy Mini-14 instead maybe? :) 1/3 of the price.
It handles so fantastically though, best I ever had.

Zerber where are you getting the NR barrel from as I want to buy a FN 2000 but not in a restricted class.
R711 OUT

From Herron Arms
herronarms.ca

stainless 1:7 cerakoted barrel = 820$+tax. $300 deposit required (so I did, now waiting for barrel blank to arrive - somewhere in February I guess). All shipping (to them and from them), of course, extra.

Hey, you can buy mine and go with all that hassle :)

I still undecided though, should i sell it or keep it :(

Solid review! Ever thought about replacing the tuna grip with the railed handguard? I'd be curious as to how much extra weight might be felt there.
I sold the FS2000 shown in the original review (it's three years ago now!)but my second one came with a railed handguard. I liked the look but the 1.5 lb weight threw off the balance too much for my liking. I really like the feel of the factory fore-end better--very ergonomic.
