The Freedom Ordnance FX-9 OWNERS thread.

There’s some lifting but not much.
Add the buffer setup and it very smooth running. I just installed a Nicks charger as well worth the $$ Got a few cuts from the stock metal latch . The trigger is a dream just want to keep pulling it .
And the Brass buffer weights I made earlier are holding up just fine1” 3.8oz

What you want is a compensator not a muzzle break

1100fps 131 grain bullet, the dot doesn’t mive

I will leave this here. My suggestion is an up ported comp whether it be the madcow one, a Davinci Diesel, an MBX, or the Tandemkross Game Changer. We have done testing (a bunch of us)... they work on all lengths of barrel, just more so on shorter barrels.

Well it's been a coon's age since I've been here and I see a ton of useful information and helpful threads so mission accomplished !! I don't see much in the way of pics though so I'm going to throw one up of my latest version to see if it's a forum issue or it y'all just need to be encouraged to add an image of your FX-9. Gives others good for thought. ya ?

Gen 2 10" . FX-9 specific TriggerTech , Holosun 2 moa , MDT Minamilist stock , Nick's awesome charging handle, Magpul grip , trigger guard and hand guard grip which I think I will reverse because I actually put that long heavy fake can up front to wrap my hand around. The extended grip and added weight out front have aided considerably with muzzle rise. Still deciding what to do with the buffer and spring combo which is where I expect significant improvements for a 9mm blowback design. Of course I could just be making all this #### up. LETS SEE MORE PICS !!

Anyone tried the TriggerTech Duty AR9 trigger pack in the FX-9?
3 weeks ago I picked up a triggertech FX9 adaptable 3.5 to 6 lb trigger from the Calgary Shooting Center.

Only have around 300 rounds downrange with it but initial impressions are it is a nice trigger.

Very little take up (it is a 2 stage) with a short reset. A great improvement over the factory trigger but IMHO not quite as nice as the Timneys which I have on AR’s. Likely due to it being a two stage and being a curved trigger. I wanted a flat trigger but this is what CSC had in stock.

No regrets purchasing it.

Triggertech have the AR9 Duty trigger, flat blade, single stage with fixed 3.5lb pull for $135 all in and delivered during their BF sale.
Less than half the price of the Triggertech FX-9 adaptable model.
Their search algorithm recommended it for the FX-9 (along with their Fx-9 specific model) but I can’t seem to find any feedback from anyone who’s tried one. I emailed Triggertech but no response yet - busy times.
Just thought I’d see if anyone here had tried the Triggertech Ar9 Duty trigger in the FX-9? NOT the same trigger as their FX-9 trigger with adjustable pull.

It's an ok trigger, wasn't my favourite that's for sure. Seems to have some light strikes. The hiperfire triggers are solid, as are the cmc PCC trigger in the fx9. I'm currently running a hiperfier and liking it a lot

Only Reason I bought the one I did was due to this on the triggertech website:

The FX-9 trigger is nearly identical to the AR-9 trigger design, except it has lower disconnect engagement to provide the extra clearance required by the FX-9 platform bolt carrier group. This trigger is ideal for PCC’s that have a lower bolt carrier group.

I thought that meant the AR9 trigger may not work 100% reliably.

Competition FX-9 in action

For those asking about a “true” compensator and Kynshot buffer.

P3 3 port compensator
Kynshot RB5015HD buffer with 2 spacers

Load 1100 fps @ 133 pf. Campro 121 RNHB OAL 1.120

Dot tracking is amazing with minimal drop at 100m

Yes I read that as well, though I hear of plenty of people using other AR15 triggers in the FX9 with no issues so wondered how much of a role that plays.
I myself had a 2nd hand FX9 with a triggertech trigger already installed. Not sure which model but it definitely wasn’t the FX-9 specific trigger. Worked great with no issues. Unfortunately I sold that rifle before removing the trigger group to check the model.

I figured the AR9 model would at least have been designed for the 9mm cartridge as opposed to AR15 triggers which would be designed for .223.

Curious as I have the same adjustable trigger but started to experience light strikes every 2-3 rounds or sometimes even back to back. I have a Gen 2 and was informed the firing pin for the Gen 2 is 40% longer so I cut a few coils and it somewhat improved but still experience light strikes, it’s a relief if I’m able to get a full 10 out with no hiccups.

Have you experienced any light strikes and if so, made any modifications to your firing pin?

No issues so far.

Mine is a gen 2 as well.

I have the trigger turned down as low as it will go in terms of trigger pull weight.

Only ammo thru it has been my reloads with CCI primers and federal military / law enforcement division training ammo 115 gr FMJ and some American Eagle 124 gr.

That said only 300 rounds with this trigger on this FX9.

On my other FX9 (totally factory) when I removed the firing pin to clean the BCG there were tiny brass filings (like dust) in the firing pin channel that I suspect were the result of firing out of battery. I could see this causing issues with the free movement of a firing pin and suspect that pin was sticking causing the out of battery issues - was seeing a few bulged cases.

Did you take a look at the firing pin channel with a light?

I’ll take a look through the channel sometime this week. I tried it out again at the range and had one run that was 29 rounds shot and 1 light strike. Then 12 light strikes out of the next 30 rounds. I’m about 500 rounds in with this trigger, I’ve tried mostly STV Scorpio 124gr, maybe the primers are little harder and FX doesn’t like it. I’ll try some PMC Bronze 124gr and Blazers.
