I don't have any pic but I was out the other day with my JR Carbine and FX-9 and can tell you my JR is much better. On paper the JR at 50 it was better and at 100 it was way better. Had a 8 inch gong at 100 hit 9 out of ten I think the miss was me and with the FX it was 6. No real science just an average guy playing around in the backyard.

Different PCCs have varying leades or freebores, so you should plunk test each projectile with each carbine to find your max OAL for each loading.
I go with 147 gn bullets over the most VV 3N38 the plunk test will let me jam in (usually over 6 grains).
The powder's just too slow to be a worry.
 
Hey guys just picked up my FX-9. First gun !

Is this ready to go out of the box or do you recommend stripping it down and cleaning/lubing ?

Also, for the experienced owners, what is your go to ammo (clean and minimal failures)

Congrats on your new FX9 and your first gun!

I can't speak for anyone else, but my own personal experience...

1. Definitely lube it. Mine came bone dry. Good news is the gun is very easy to take apart so I'd suggest you do so and grease it up well.
2. My charging handle out of the box, was really grainy/gritty feeling - with use, that seemed to have gone away
3. Ammo - there should be an insert that tells you to stat with 115gr and NO aluminum. I contacted FO about any prospective "break in" period. They said there is none defined but they just recommend the use of 115gr for a while. So that's what I did - maybe 200 rounds.
4. My initial ammo was CCI Blazer Brass, 115gr. After 200 rounds I switched to Federal Syntech 147gr. No issues.
5. Gun has functioned great with the exception of two (2) things: 1. last round bolt hold open is hit and miss and seems to work better on non OEM Glock G5 mags (so Magpul GL9s, etc.) 2. Bolt catch/lock/release seems to go off by itself for no reason, even at times with no movement.

I do not have any target to show you, but I can easily consecutively hit 8" gongs @ 50yd with a RDS. If that helps.

I am selling an FX-9 and a potential customer asked if it was a gen 1 or gen 2 gun. Can anyone enlighten me regarding the different generations and how to tell which I have?

Similar ergonomics, completely different rifle. Blowback, not DI, only the furniture is interchangeable, the uppers only fit fx9s etc.
It's almost certainly on someone's ban list, but then all guns are or soon will be.
You can buy drop in uppers for the 180s, too, they aren't AR15 variants either.

Then how are people putting 8" barreled receivers on them? I thought barrels had to be over 16" to be not prohibited
 
You can buy the uppers without needing a PAL, the lower is considered the firearm. Just like you can buy a 12.5" barrel for a 180 or AR without sending PAL info.
From what I understand once you install it on a lower you have 30 days to report/license the change, at which point the gun would become restricted. If you never install it there's no reason to report anything.
 
Seems I'm a little confused on the rules.

I thought a centrefire rifle had to have a barrel over 16" or it would be classified as prohibited. It was my understanding that AR rifles are exempt from this because they are (were) classified as restricted by legislation so could have any length barrel.

I am wrong?

Partially wrong. Centrefire firearms must have at least an 18.5" or longer barrel AND overall length greater than 26" to be NR. Ar15 are restricted by name so barrel length didn't matter.
