The Freedom Ordnance FX-9 OWNERS thread.

I’ll take a look through the channel sometime this week. I tried it out again at the range and had one run that was 29 rounds shot and 1 light strike. Then 12 light strikes out of the next 30 rounds. I’m about 500 rounds in with this trigger, I’ve tried mostly STV Scorpio 124gr, maybe the primers are little harder and FX doesn’t like it. I’ll try some PMC Bronze 124gr and Blazers.
Yeah the STV Scorpio is pretty bad. I had over 100 failures to fire in a 1000 rounds. I dunno if it's crappy primers or what, but the stuff is not good. Mixed them in to my practice ammo to train clearing, that's about all it's good for.

That Ammo is terrible it’s not your FX! my CZ spo1 P320 & Vector all had the same issues with that exact round.

Approx 30 fails out of 300 rds I threw my hands up and gave a buddy the 700 remaining.
CRAP!
Also had bad experiences with this ammunition including burst primers in various pistols.

A number of local IDPA competitors have had issues with it as well including light primer strikes and failures to fire.

Notwithstanding theturddiditagain I still plan on getting more parts to get the FX9 ready for competition.

Looking for suggestions from competitors that have been there done that.

So far added P3 linear comp, LTAC adjustable buffer, triggertech FX9 adjustable trigger, Nickk charging handle, Holosun 510C, short hand stop at end of the rail, and Magpul backup sights.

What else would you recommend?

Magwell?
A 12 or 14” barrel if they become available? Has a 10” right now.
45 degree offset red dot?

Any recommended spare parts to have on hand?

Any suggestions appreciated.

The bolt carriers are different lengths between generations (as are the corresponding barrel extensions). They can't be mixed and matched. The feed ramps are slightly different as well (pretty subtle), but you can install a gen 2 feed ramp in a gen 1 gun if you want. To my eyes the uppers appear to be identical between the two gens, and from experience gen 2 uppers work fine on gen 1 lowers.
I think I got an answer with this post

Wolverine told me that gen 1 lowers fitted with the gen 2 feed ramp ($40 from wolverine) will work with either gen 1 or gen 2 uppers. Gen 2 lowers will work with either gen 1 or gen 2 uppers.

Outside of the feed ramp and bolt lengths (gen 1 ~ 1/8” longer) I don’t see any difference between the gen 1/2 (outside of minor cosmetic differences on mag release, safety, charging handle etc).
