The FRT - Firearms Awaiting Classification - Updated 18-DEC-2017 Faxon XRS-C

Well, someone has to import a physical sample for review prior. They haven't even started shipping it in the US...

They have had an rdb for well over a year, hopefully the MDR doesn't have to wait as long as the Kel-Tec, shouldn't be any reason it won't be NR but stranger things have happened.

It boggles my mind that it should take so long to do classification. Ideally there should be a fairly simple checklist:

- Is there anything that would make it prohibited? If no, then is it a handgun? If no, the barrel length equal or greater than 470 mm in length and is the overall length equal or greater than 660 mm? If yes to both then it is non-restricted. Case closed.

You should take a look at the classification laws again. A fairly simply checklist that focuses only on physical characteristics would make sense, but our current classification system includes considerations of WHO made it, HOW they made it, WHERE the pieces came from, WHY they made it, whether anyone did anything to it after it was made, whether anything was invented before or after that could change any of the forgoing, and if there is any conceivable basis that the a classification of prohibited could be justified.

Don't forget, when the Conservatives passed new record regulations following the CZ reclassification, the Conservatives took away the RCMPs ability to change their mind later, meaning they now have only one chance to get it right. FRT weight times have increased since then accordingly.

Looking for advice. My AR15 import is waiting for an FRT number. It is a pretty standard AR15, nothing too special, has the reduced width receiver at safety so it should be fine there. We are coming up on three months here. Anything I can/should do? Could they really sit on their hands for 3 years?

I guess you missed the fact that some guns are 5 years plus on the wait list. But by all means, call them and ask whats up.

Honing to have to save some cash, not usually a Keltech fan but the RDB is getting great reviews, not looking forward to the dealer added non restricted premium pricing though.
