Magnificent! Thanks for posting that.

I can just picture Bill Ruger Sr. handling one or two of those and thinking to himself "You know...I could re-invent this rifle, improve it for modern manufacturing techniques, and then sell it priced for the common man..."

Is that a restoration? Surely those aren't the original cased colours? What chambering? Is it a practical hunter/shooter or more of a looker/fondler? Whichever, it's lovely. :)

Bolt actions...pffft....

The M-10 was the granddaddy of all magnums with 3000 FPS on a "7MM" (.289) bullet.
The styling, balance, accuracy, and stopping power set a standard that was not beaten for 50 years.
A rifle for all seasons.....one of mine.

Thanks for the complements.

1) Restoration of H&H by Martini & Hahn out of Vancouver. Hepplemyers (sp) did the re-engrave (Mrs) and stock (Mr.).
2) .35 Winchester as .303 barrel shot out.
3) Had one (H&H again but in .360) as a boy (18) and shot it a lot, so am just reliving old memories (at 73)with a few targets.

Having had a handful of 98s over the years I certainly cant argue with the accolades the 98 has gotten here...that said the last number of years I find myself reaching for my Husqvarna 1600's over the 98's. Not saying the 1600 husky is better but I like the slimmer details of them and the accuracy. Here is one of the go to Huskys, a 1640K in 30-06 that likes to put the 1st 3 rounds into the same hole:

Dear lord, keep me in mind if she’s ever to be on the market if the bore survived. Preferred without restoration by far she’s perfect and can’t buy that history in finish.

Bore is dark rifling tops are shinny .Stock has a big piece missing at the back and a crack runs under the bolt handle. It is broken up under the recoil abutment.I have some buff horn for the forend tip
There is a nice one for sale at Tec tradex?

I was going to say the M98 is the greatest, then I thought about the improved versions like the FN Browning Safari and Czech Brno rifles. I particularly like the ZG-47. Definitely better than an original M98. Then I thought about further improved M98 variants like the Heym Express by Martini. No question a great rifle. And then I remembered I have a Customized original M98 coming in the mail from Ralf Martini. So I already voted with my money.
