The GSG 16 modification thread

Can you add more details about the fiberglass wrapping process?

Basically just a matter of sanding/degreasing first and then brushing on resin, adding a layer of fiberglass, wet it out with a bit more resin...rinse and repeat for as many layers as you want/need.
It would have been better to use a vacuum bag to compress the fabric more, but that would require more set up time and more material, so I went old school lol
It's kinda hard to describe, but if it's something you want to try, there will be tons of info on youtube

Anyone have to remove material from the inside of the Airsoft stock due to binding of mag release after installing the stock screw?

Anyone found mag couplers? I was thinking about designing / printing some on my 3D printer, but not sure if it is worth the time if something already exists.

I printed my own. I tested them yesterday and had multiple failures to feed because the rounds would not be pushed up in the mags. The pressure on the side of the mags stopped the follower from moving freely.
I will probably print a looser design.

that would look slick! i havent seen any yet.

do you think there is enough clearance to hold a pair in the stock as well?

I have 4 mags and it would be hoot to go out with all 4 full (and not be in my pockets)

Thanks what area?

Hard to explain, I just greased it up, and started putting it on and pulling it off, and seeing where it hitting, and started trimming with a file.

Mainly where it starts curving out, from the 1/2 circle. It seems like the molding cooled inwards a bit.

Thanks. Sounds like way too much work (for me).

us$4.50 at tiger111hk.

they also got fixed or retractable stocks on sale for us$10. honestly, why bother with 3-d?

Having them in 20minutes instead of 3+ weeks, being able to give them away to your friends, saving 4.50 USD, no risk of having to deal with CBSA, the satisfaction of learning to 3D model and creating something from nothing even if it's something very simple like a mag coupler.... among other reasons

Yeah, but other than all those reasons... why bother?

With tiger, It's took 9-10 days to arrive , not 3+ weeks. None of the three packages were at risk with cbsa . Making these by 3-d are like making lug nuts for a wheel on a personal CNC machine, like joe said, why bother, lol.

I designed/printed my own as well and had the exact same problem and solution lol
My inner geek loves the challenge :)

I ordered from them 7 days, and my order still says "wait package".. Whatever that means? Why cannot companies have a standard processing terminology?

I think the use of Chinglish complicates the process some. :) Google Translate isn't 100% on the button.

Ordered mine Christmas eve. No sign yet. Canada Post says the're eagerly awaiting the arrival of the package.

Why bother to 3D print stuff? I think Wal-Mart Greeter gives several excellent reasons. We've evolved to do stuff with our clever hands and opposable thumbs. We dabble, we humans. Sometimes the challenge is the point and the dabbling becomes very satisfying. I dunno about you, but when I clicked "Complete Order" on Tiger's website, I felt zero urge to push back from the desk, utter a satisfied sigh, and say "Job done - well done, me"...

Some folks like the idea of a "mission completed high". Others don't. Your mileage may vary. Do what floats your boat. :)

Its because the warehouse is separate from their office 2 regions over. Think Tactical Import, the head office is in Toronto but the Type 81s are stored in Calgary.
