The Hunter Marksman Challenge - use your hunting rifle!

Truthfully speaking, it takes 18 days for a domesti pig to go feral..... So we would be screwed either way.... This strain would just accelerate the damage..... Rumour has it, that it has already started in Ontario...... And while I liked hunting them, I am not a "bring it on" guy in this situation......

Talk about playing with fire. Soon we will be able to fish for carp and hunt boars in Central Alberta just like in Mother Russia.

Better make some wild boar targets Brobee.

So we can practice for the imminent Canada-Wide-Wild-Boar-Apocalypse:

Wild Boar WB001
Wild Boar WB002
Wild Boar WB003

Will see if I can't get some more bear and buffalo targets going too...:)

*edited to add another WB003 this morning.

If anyone's interested, here's what the distribution of scores I've received in the past two weeks looks like (note the different scoring formula I'm using if you want to calculate your own score):

For those lurking....where do you fit in now? How much could you improve if you practiced all summer?

I'd love to see some more data from the CGN crowd! Maybe those who have tried (and liked) the challenge could do me a huge solid and recruit one or two of your friends?

Cheers,

Brobee

I am going to the range tomorrow and wont be able to shoot all the positions but will practice standing and kneeling and sitting unsupported. Not sure if there is a convenient round (of wood) for shooting sitting supported. if there is, or if a chair will work I will use it. Will be shooting the A7 30.06 and Win XP Deer Season 150gr ammo. Bought two boxes... And I will post results.

Hope you get some relief on the weather soon, those kind of conditions are no fun!

Cheers, and looking forwards to your thoughts n the exercise.

Sorry to read about everyone's weather woes!

Here in South/Central Alberta we've had pretty nice weather the past few weeks. While I did not go run the challenge today, I did something even better! Started out with some coyote hunting action at the request of local landowners who've been hounding me to get out and cull emboldened coyotes that are packing up on their dogs/calves, and then got all three of my super-precious ladies out with their .22's for some rimfire steel challenge action. The biggest thrill was seeing my youngest bloom a bit with her new gun (she was shooting an iron-sighted cricket before today)...when I snapped the pic of her smiling she had just beat her mother by knocking down the last plate on the rack. I'll remember that shot for a LONG time!

Hope to get out for some more hunter marksman challenge action soon...:), and hope you all do too!

I tried the challenge today. Very humbling! Standing off hand at 100m is not my strong suit, every heart beat would throw off my point of aim. It's was actually very frustrating. I have a video but need to edits it's length and can't seem to do it on my iPhone. Here are the results. 2 shots way off the mark and I'm not sure which ones they are.

Rifle is a T3 Lite in .223 with a Vortex 4-16x50.

Many thanks Tikka223!! I would not consider that humbling at all...8 hits is really good. I'm guessing you're right handed? I write that because I'm left handed and my marksman challenge hits often trace a diagonal line that is the mirror image of yours (11 o-clock down to 5 o-clock).

Results entered, and many many thanks!
