The shroud holds in place with a set screw correct? ...does it mark your barrel up at all?

I'm wondering if you were concerned it wouldn't fit - mine is cambered in 9mm but not sure if their 9mm shroud is a universal fit so to speak?

Thanks!

Doesnt mark the barrel. Kinda of neat setup. A set screw tightens a collar around the barrel.
The manufacturers would know more about the 9mm thing. I believe they have done quite a few.

Oh gotcha - thats great info, thank you. ..is yours chambered in .40 or .45?

Just curious is anyone has swapped out their triggers for anything aftermarket? I shoot my JR a lot...in fact it's probably shot more regularly than almost anything else in the safe. During the winter, I shoot a couple times a week at an indoor range with it, and now that I have it configured pretty much the way I want it, the only thing I'm still not thrilled with is the trigger.

I've torn it down, thoroughly cleaned everything, stoned and polished bearing surfaces, and I'm just not thrilled with it even now. It's down to 6 1/2 lbs from close to 9, much smoother take-up, but the break is still not as crisp as I'd like, and I would really like to get things closer to 3 1/2-4 lbs max.

I've got a variety of aftermarket triggers on 4 of my other rifles, Timney & Volquartzen represented. I like the single stage Volquartzen on my SR-22 the best; no creep, the break is like the proverbial glass rod breaking, and it lets out the demons exactly at 3 pounds. The problem is that it was more money than I was comfortable with. I'll spend it again if I need to, but I hope someone has put another aftermarket trigger in their JR that they're happy with

Where in Canada are you? They are pretty commonly available, in the west anyway. Wholesale Sports almost always has a couple. In Calgary, the Calgary Shooting Centre carries them, In Regina TNT Gunwerks carries them.

Unlike anything Keltec, they are pretty easy to find, although Keltec seems to be getting more readily available too. I've actually seen multiple Keltecs of the same model in one place, unlike years past where you wouldn't see a Keltec anywhere for months & Months.

If you have a Wholesale Sports near you and want it quickly, that's your best bet. If you aren't in a rush, You may want to get ahold of the Calgary Shooting Centre or another retailer in Alberta; most don't have an obligation to charge Ontario PST so you only have to pay GST & shipping. JR has a listing of dealers on their website I think, and if not, drop them an email; they are really quick to respond. If you give them a phone number they will usually call you.

Shooters Choice/The Gun Room in Waterloo has one on the rack... I saw it there ~Wednesday anyway.

I got my Takedown Tube from JR, don't think I'm going to use it, still in plastic if someone wants to buy it. It's on the EE.

The Takedown tube replaces the free floating Quad rail and barrel nut to allow easy removal of the barrel. Stow your gun in a backpack, in your boat, camper or where ever a compact self-defense weapon is desired. Includes tool to provide increased leaverage.

I've had my JR for 2 years (9mm Glock mags), and just put the 15,000th round through it. It's been a great rifle; accurate, happy to eat just about anything I feed it, and very few problems with FTF/FTE. I did replace the firing pin/spring at around 11,000 rounds (on JR; they sent me the parts) due to light strikes on some primers. Other than that, I've had no problem with that wasn't operator error.

One thing that has always bugged me though. Being in Canada, our mags are pinned at 10 rounds. Having a 33 rd mag hanging off it just for looks doesn't appeal to me, but I longed for a quicker way to reload; dropping one mag, digging out a new one and sticking it in the rifle seems sometimes like a pain in the A**. I got a couple of those aluminium couplers that replace the baseplates, attaching two mags together, end to end.

They work, and are very well made, but the end result is even longer than a 33 rd mag, and are really not very quick to drop the mag, flip it over and re-insert the fresh mag into the rifle. I thought it would be great to find a coupler that would attach two mags together side to side, similar to those available for AR mags. I looked and looked for a couple of months, and no one seemed to make anything like that....then I had a "DUH" moment...

I have a 3D printer. I started thinking that I probably didn't need something made of aluminum or pressed steel to hold two mags together; the ABS that my printer uses would be plenty strong enough if I printed out something with near-complete in-fill.

So...I got out the calipers, did some measuring, eyeballed the amount of material shrinkage when it cooled down, fired up the one CAD program that I can stumble through, and designed my own side-by-side 9mm Glock magazine coupler. I printed one off this afternoon, and much to my own amazement, it worked!
First time, too!

After I got over that shock, I got the JR out of the safe. the mags fit into the coupler very snugly; they are easy to move deliberately, but I doubt they will move up or down from recoil. With ten round mags, it doesn't get in the way at all, and the second, full mag sits right along the receiver. It's easily twice as fast as any other method to change mags now. I'm really pleased, and quite proud of myself for figuring out a design that worked. My wife normally says I'm mechanically inclined; I can screw up anything...not this time, though.

I have photos, but can't post'em here. If anyone want to see them, drop me a PM, or volunteer to put them up on the forum, and I'll send them to you

Wow! I'm amazed with both the attachable mags with a 3-d printer and the 15,000 round count. I thought 2000 with mine was lots.
I think you are on to something.

The 15,000 round count is easy; I'm retired, my wife isn't. Since she's a great gal & loves me, she asked me a few years ago what I wanted for Christmas...I told her I wanted a membership at a really nice local indoor range. I've told her the same thing every year since. During the winter especially, I'm either reloading or shooting while she's at work, so it happens faster than you'd think. I had my "invention" at the range this morning and it worked really well. The mags didn't move around at all with the recoil; even if they had, it would be easy enough to fix, though. Happy to shoot you a photo if you want to PM me your email
