The JR Carbine Thread

I just read this article and noticed something in the feature list of the JR carbine in .357sig. The very first feature mentions new quick release for easier cleaning??? does that mean they are doing away with the 3 screws and buffer tube removal? mabye a new generation?

Wonder what the "new JRC quick release" is? Can't seem to find any info on it and the buffer tube in the JRC picture in the article looked like a regular AR with castle nut. Anyone have any info?
 
I thought that it was a new way to quickly remove the buffer tube because the article said it would "facilitate cleaning"...but I guess it's just the regular takedown tube to take the barrel off, which I've had for a while already. Thanks.

"Easier Takedown"... was hoping they brought in a better system than that. Doesn't look to be changed much if that's all it is.

Both the stock for-end and the takedown tube want to loosen up on mine, might have to use a little thread locker.
 
Yah and I've cranked down on the stock end pretty good, and the take down tube doesn't use it.
Just a little pin to insert in a hole for leverage.
 
New to Me - JR in 9mm

I purchased this JR in 9mm from the EE. I have totally rebuilt it and made it as mean as I could with a new tactical scope to top it off.

After: 8-10hrs of scrubbing with acetone, brake cleaner and brass brush, She looks like new and fires like new!

 
Question just to cofirm with you guys.

I just bought a JR, and I want to start looking for a longer AR style handguard quad rail.

From what ive read and watched, i can't just start browsing the EE for AR handguards right? It would need to come with a barrel nut specfic to the handguard???

I guess my assumption was correct, New models will have a quick release style buffer tube for easier cleaning. This video indicates retro fit kits will be available for older models.

 
Picked up a JRCarbine 9mm yesterday at the local gun show, came with:

- VLTOR butt stock
- Hogue grip
- vented barrel shroud
- bushnell MP trophy sight

And if I wasn't completely inept, I could actually figure out how to uploads pictures to here.

I haven't even fired it yet, but hopefully in the next week or two.
The wife purchased and S&W M&P 22, and should have it in the next week or so, our plan it to eventually transition her from the 22 to a M&P 9mm.

I was thinking of purchasing a Glock so everything would be transferable between the glock and JR, but contimplating buying an M&P and switching the JR to M&P mags, THOUGHTS?

I picked up a 9mm in snow ghost camo last week from a CGN'r, mounted a Vortex Sparc 2, fired 50 flawless rounds, shot decent groups with a reddot but reddots aren't my thing on a rifle, mounted a Bushnell AR 3-12x40 and gonna give a try tomorrow.

I have a .40 on the way(bigfoot 870's rifle) hopefully its in good working order. picked up an extra 10rd mag, and have 2 g27 mags on the way so far, not a fan of huge pinned stick mags. I am going to be installing a vortex spitfire 1x prism scope(on sale at cabellas), I do want to get rid of the quad rail and just run a rifle length free float tube, can't seem to find one at any of the site sponsors however. what would be ideal for me is a keymod or m lock free float rail, but without the top rail as I don't intend to run irons. although a round free float tube could be setup to act the same way as the jr takedown tube.

The new JR hand guard looks great however, the quick takedown butstock is kinda pointless if you still need to use an allen to remove the bolt??
