The JR Carbine Thread

Someone asked before (not sure if under this thread or not) but I don't remember.
For the take down model, do you have to boresight again if you remove/reattach the barrel?

Looks great! ..You would think that JR would make it perfectly match up to the receiver with the rail also being aligned ...how did you shim it?

got a washer from fastenal and worked it to fit... On the JR website they are honest about needing shims and not include them... pretty stupid but the rail was so cheap that I wanted to try it anyway. it does come with one shim, but you need two.

see my post here http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/1478807-spacer-for-rail-on-JR-carbine

My rail came with 4 shims and I needed them all

at least yours sits flush... me with the shims it is spaced from the receiver

Anyone else have any issues with the hand guard coming loose when using the VW crush washer? I'm after going through two so far. Last one I made sure it was like a german virgin, gooden tight, and it still came loose. Any pointers to keep it secure?

I'm curious, why did you install the StrikeFire mount 'backwards'?

Very nice looking JR, Cservos. One of the cleaner builds I've seen. I wish He had made the bird cage the same finish as the barrel but that's easy enough to change.

True enough haha. They do get dirty quick. How do you find the trigger upgrade versus the stock one? I have two JRs and find the trigger to be a little creepy for my likes when shooting paper.

is it just me or did all the new jr carbines in 9mm get a way longer buffer tube and huge buffer and spring?

They also used a heavier buffer and longer tube due to the bolt cycling too quickly causing feeding reliability issues, particularly on the 45ACP models. These changes came standard on most MKII rifles.

OK I was curious, my first Jr carbine that I bought back in 2013 and sold last year had a standard buffer tube. Work flawlessly. Now it's a pain, I'm pretty you can't get a milspec tube in this length either..

If you are having issues contact JR directly. They will work with you to resolve issues especially if you have an early design MKI. They may even upgrade your tube/buffer free of charge.
