The JR Carbine Thread

I'm not a black rifle guy, but we're thinking about getting one of these in the spring. What kind/brand/style of sights to start out with? The 4 of us will be using it so something middle of the road would probably be best. Haven't picked out a model yet, i'll probably just grab one off the EE then.

New to the thread. I have a JR Marine version in 9mm with an additional handguard, trigger, ambi safety, etc.. I'm looking to change the buffer tube to something a little more Whiz-bangy and want to confirm it's a commercial, NOT mil-spec before I go shopping.

I can confirm my 9mm JRC has a commercial buffer tube. Now my question: why do you want to change the buffer tube?
 
my understanding is it is commercial in size to fit aftermarket stocks, but is longer than a standard buffer tube. so it must be kept on the rifle to operate properly.
 
I just picked up a new JRC 9mm quad rail. I'm thinking to add a Holosun 515CU optic with UTG MNT-755/955 backup sights. Anyone have experience with either of these? Also I see the manufacturer recommends Slip 2000 EWL. What CLP do you use?
 
^^^^ my guess is that since he had to use the rifle length buffer tube for the A2 stock, he had to put a spacer inside the tube so that the stock buffer and spring could still be used? That's what I did on my Thureon Defence when I installed an A2 stock. Worked mint.

By the way, nice looking JR Carbine ya got there CX. The A2 stock and new handguard do a good job of taking the JR's ugly away.
 
Its the rifle length buffer tube, and stock buffer and spring. I used a 1" diametre wood dowel (had to sand it a bit to make it fit inside the buffer tube) cut to ~2.25" to make up the difference between the stock buffer tube (with the plastic spacer) and the rifle buffer tube. Hopefully my math and measurements were correct! New hand guard, Timny trigger, and new buttstock - got 'er just the way I want it.

Bought a takedown model .40 cal here from Hitfar1, like it a lot. A few mods to it and is now my urban coyote control rifle. Forend accessories make it heavier and so I will take off and put the takedown forend back on next summer when I take to camp and let the neighbours kids shoot it. Is amazingly accurate at 100 yards which is what i have it sighted in for.

Had my Jr for a few years now, runs great! Only problem is, my range (and me for that matter) hates that it doesn't hold open on empty. Has anyone found a workaround for this at all?
