The JR Carbine Thread

At least 2000 rounds through mine. Had maybe 3 come out like those you posted above. Only using OEM glock mags. Ammo was 1000 blazer brass and 1000 remington. Plus some random boxes of other stuff. Seemed to do well with everything.

Updated my JRC with a 15in free float m lok and some sights to replace the facog.

Both of mine were super reliable with OEM Glock mags. KCI had problems in mine as well. Mine had follower springs that were too tight. Shortening them a bit helped but still not as reliable as Glock brand.

Hey, I just picked up what I'm thinking is an older model 9mm JR, my question is what exactly do I have to do to convert it to left handed? Do I just need to move the ejection port cover? Or is there more to it?

There is a bit more to it. You need to remove the bolt and swap the extractor to the other side and then the cover like you mentioned. Do it next time you need to clean it.

Just picked up a takedown this weekend to celebrate my RPAL renewal. I put a Vortex Venom RDS on it right away, and fired about 10 rounds through it to get it warmed up. Might need to get a small riser for the Venom, but it’s not too bad.
Has anyone seen the slingpack in stock anywhere?
Also wondering if anyone else with a takedown had found a good way to attach a carry strap/sling ( other than single point)?

Took my new to me JRC 9mm to the range today. I love it. It left the 115 grain white box Winchester brass very dirty, but shot great.

The charging handle, on the other hand, decided to come loose twice on me causing issues opening the bolt. Looks like the end of the screw is getting stripped... any recommendations? What colour lock tite if thats an option? Is this a common thing?

Also if u really start to love ur JR, I'd recommend buying the quick detach buffer tube kit from JR, it makes cleaning the gun a total non issue. A must have mod if u ask me.

Good to see you had success with the Winchester Whitebox stuff. Mine shot under 3" groups at 100m with 124gr WWB so they do have potential! If your charging handle screw is starting to strip, contact JR, they will likely send you a replacement free of charge. I'd recommend a dab of blue loctite on the threads and snug it well. I had issues with the two small breach plate bolts coming loose and causing poor extraction but never issues with my charging handle bolt.

Side note: your JR looks fantastic!

Ahhh too bad they didnt start with one of those! I bought an ar tool so I dont mind taking it off now. Ill try blue lock tite, im always confused which colour works in each scenario.

Blue is the non-permanent, works well for things that need to stay, but eventually need to be removed. Use a little localized heat prior to removing to ensure you don't strip out the head of the fastener.

I can also recommend the quick detach buffer. Much less faffing around when cleaning, and it doesn't look as weird as I thought it would.

Yah the quick detach buffer is surprisingly easy on the eyes... Here is a Whitetail spiker I shot with my 9mm JR last fall!

Very capable guns indeed! They truly live up to their name.

Anyone stretched its shooting distance a little bit ? I shot it at 120yrds on a 9''x9'' plate and could consistently hit it. I'm pretty darn amazed by this rifle and can't get enough of it! Pretty accurate too for a 9mm (for mine that is).
