The JR Carbine Thread

Anyone stretched its shooting distance a little bit ? I shot it at 120yrds on a 9''x9'' plate and could consistently hit it. I'm pretty darn amazed by this rifle and can't get enough of it! Pretty accurate too for a 9mm (for mine that is).

Mine will hit a 10" plate at 200m fairly reliably if it's dead calm out.

Mines like a 3moa shooter! Puts even some full sized rifles to shame haha

NICE ! what ammo do you use ? Mine eats some reloaded dominion 124gr ammo and loves it. For some cheap plinking ammo I am suprised how well it shoots. A friend of mine was pretty darn surprised how accurate this little bad boy is for a 9mm carbine when he tried it. He didn't believe me when I told him... then he tried it hehe

I like to use 124gr wasp munitions hp.

I've shot a few different pccs over the years and they've all been surprisingly accurate. It's the environmental effects and massive bullet drop that really limits them to the sub 100m range.

Took my new to me JRC 9mm to the range today. I love it. It left the 115 grain white box Winchester brass very dirty, but shot great.

The charging handle, on the other hand, decided to come loose twice on me causing issues opening the bolt. Looks like the end of the screw is getting stripped... any recommendations? What colour lock tite if thats an option? Is this a common thing?

Ya that's a pain - Hasn't happened to mine but I'm sure if you contact JR they should be able to hook you up with replacement parts and/or proper recommendations as they seem to have good customer service

ALSO* - is that a 17" handguard or a 15" - looks great - what Muzzle break is that?

My JR in .45 after I installed the 13" Keymod handguard. It was on sale on the JR website for $70, down from $159. Nice mod, much lighter than the forearm I had on there. Recently put the Holosun on it as well. Good combination. Was dinging a 10 inch gong at 100 yds. consistently. Very accurate carbine.

It's a 15". I don't know the muzzle brake I bought it like that.

Anyone running one of these in 40 S&W? I’m finally ready to pick one of these up but would like to try a 40 if they are reliable. Thanks

I have one I picked up off the EE a couple months ago. I haven't shot it much yet, less than 100 rounds, but it has functioned flawlessly so far, even with KCI mags. I have put a box of brass cased blazer 180gr through it as well as some handloads using 180gr Hornady XTP and 180gr Campro hollow points. I have had decent accuracy with all of these as well.

What barrel shroud do you have on here? Been looking for a faux-suppressor threaded for my .45

Back when I did accuracy testing with my two JRs I found 3" groups at 100m were pretty easy to accomplish with the right ammo. 124gr Winchester Whitebox was the ticket for my 9mm. 45acp loved the Federal 230gr FMJ.

If you search my posts I did a full write up on a bunch of different types of ammo out of a JR at 100m.

True North Arms makes nice ones that fit the JR's. Ive got one on mine and its very well made.

Yeah, unfortunately they don't have the tap for .45 threads, didn't get many orders for that size, it took too long, but now I'm regretting canceling :(

Did a basic accuracy test of my JR carbine... wouldve been interesting to have tried a greater variety of ammo, but i need the money for other things haha

My 9MM build update.

Here's my JR so far..

New 17" M-Lok handguard from magdump.ca if I remember correctly.
New Magpul handstop and pistol grip.
Bushnell red dot that I'm actually extremely impressed with so far.
Canted magpul pro flip up iron sites.
Feeling much better now than stock and looks 100% better.

Up next is a new butt stock and a nice ambi safety. (maybe radian arms?)
In the future I'm hoping to put a high end trigger. (maybe geissele?)

Hope you guys dig it!

My 40 cal gen 2 is a disaster

Need some help with my .40 cal JR gen 2:

Im getting 50% fail to fires across 3 different ammos. Very light or even non visible primer strikes are common.
-bolt is clean. Inside and out
-no FOD or other obstruction in the bolt.
-well lubed but not wet

I noticed that the firing pin seems too short for the bolt. The pin is under spring tension, away from the primer. When you depress the firing pun from behind its not even close to emerging from the tiny hole on the other side of the bolt. I have to use a hex key to push the pin in 1/4” before it starts to touch primer. I can see why there are light primer strikes. The pin has to use kinetic energy to compress the spring 1/4” and emerge out the primer hole with enough energy to fire a primer. The hammer can only touch the pin for a about 1/16” before it starts its lone journey down the bolt alone and with no further forward force from the hammer.

Do i have the wrong firing pin?

I had a .40 JR that never worked. Constant stovepipes, a few ftf and fte. Sent it back and never got an explanation. After 3 or 4 months and many inquiries I took a 9mm from the supplier. That ones works flawlessly!

I wish you luck. I found their warranty work here in Canada to be absolutely awful.
