The JR Carbine Thread

I'm saving my pennies. Looking to pick one of these up soon! I love the look with a longet handguard, magpul stock, a nice red dot and new pistol grip. Looks like a fun non-restricted carbine.

When my wife was thinking about a JR in 9mm, I'm glad I didn't show her this thread, especially after I saw one in 'Dirty Girl" camo at Wanstall's!
Instead I urged towards a S&W MP AR 15 to ammo compatible with my Ruger Mini 14. It's going to get the "Muddy Girl" treatment.

When we were shopping around, I spoke to Scott at International and he told me he won't stock the .40's and .45's as they seem to be problematic. The 9mm's are reputed to be more reliable.

When I bought my .40 JRC almost a year ago the 45's were the only ones that could be unreliable when feeding. I have had no issues with my .40 after my first clean haven't had one issue after 300rounds so far.

I wanted a 45 but settled with the 40 cuz I couldn't find one, glad I didn't get the 45

Found this update to the FAQ in JRC's website, which I am very excited about:

"Q: Do you have any plans to make the 9mm compatible with other (Sig P226, Beretta M9, etc.) magazines? We base our JR Carbine model offerings on magazines that have proven most popular among the general shooting public. Currently that means Glock magazines (in 9mm, .40S&W, and .45ACP) and standard 1911 magazines in .45ACP. We have just announced (Q1 2014) S&W M&P magwells for the .9mm and 40 S&W calibers. We are currently evaluating our product mix relative to market demand, and we will continue to consider adapting the JR Carbine to other magazines."

I searched the rest of the website for more information but was unable to find any. Sent an email yesterday asking if there was more info, no reply as of yet. I am very excited and hopeful as I have been waiting for a pistol-caliber carbine that uses the same mags as my M&P 40

I just picked up one of these rifles in 9mm. Now I want to get some goodies for it to dress it up. Anyone know where to get a flash hider for the 9 mm?

I just picked up one of these at Canadian Tire in Stratford today!
My first gun actually! I'm excited to get some optics and some personalization....not sure if I want a foregrip, definitely want a nice muzzle brake.

-Jeff

Edit: Where can I get Glock 26 mags for this? And any recommendations on optics?

Nice, they are fun little guns you will enjoy it.

Are you looking for factory glock mags? I bought some KCI mags from wolverine supplies and have not had any problems yet.

The one I bought was pure garbage. Buyer beware of KCI mags. After a few cycles, the spring loses it's tension then it won't cycle. Absolutely dreadful in my JRC or TDC while OEM mags run like a clock. You get what you pay for.

Thanks, I managed to get two new Glock17 mags at The Gun Center in Kitchener.
They just got a few in stock luckily.

We just got stock on the JR carbine barrel shrouds, solid & vented, HERE.

We also have Genuine Glock, factory pinned hicaps in stock, HERE. 9mm- 17/10 or 33/10, .40- 15/10 or 22/10, .45- 13/10

love the JRs!
