The last milsurp bonanza?

Jordan has lots of Garand Rifles. Probably in nice condition. Tried to make a deal, the reply was
they are going to follow UN and destroy them.

Greece did a similar thing with a bunch of their bolt action Mannlichers. I saw some photos of the rifles and many were in mint condition. Greece also had a lot of M1 Garands and Carbines. Some of them were sold to Century International and a buyer in Europe. The US/Obama stepped in and put a wrench in the works, by purchasing all of the Garands/Carbines/Thompsons.

The CMP did manage to get a few of them, I believe.

In the end, it was cheaper for the Greeks to destroy the firearms than it was to sell them on the surplus market.

I'm actually surprised at how long many nations have stored these rifles. They mostly just take up a lot of valuable warehouse space and those that are properly stored maintained are an added expense, many just can't afford.
