The Liberals are already making me spend money…

Well from experiance, I sold a Spas-12 before they were banned to a paramedic....(real criminal there) he had to turn it in to the local cops.

I think that deep down inside everyone who is able to buy an AR would wants one. It’s a shame it took a threat to get me to open my wallet. But is it not better for more people to buy them now due to this threat rather then ##### and complain after when they didn’t…

Well, I figure, if theyre gonna outlaw everything, why not have a real AR.So I just sold my AR 180 and am using the money for a real AR. That way, when all of our guns go underground, there will 8e parts out there as well!

There would be a national backlash of significant proportion if the Lieberals were to ban semi-automatic sporting rifles and handguns, no matter what they look like. They would be forced to grand-father existing owners and carry on. The only way they would be successful confiscating firearms without compensation is if they issued OIC's banning one make and model of firearm at a time. Look what happened when Miller vowed to close all ranges and vendors in Toronto - we have enforcement problems, many exceptions and grandfathering. So, what was the point? If we all would have fought on a national level, he wouldn't have been able to do squat. If by chance the Lieberals were able to ban and confiscate without compensation all semi-automatics and handguns, could you imagine the all the people who would lobby for property rights? No government wants to mess with that.

I just ordered an Armalite lower as well. At $213 to my door you can't go wrong, I already have a couple of AR's but I've been thinking about a ground up build. Either 6.8 SPC or maybe something with a long barrel and a high powered scope. Hmmm...

:sniper:

True, the only solution is political but at the same time it never hurst to pack your house with as much as you can for both A) Grandfathering own one of everything just in case and 2) to raise the cost of confiscation.

Since this spring I just bought my first black rifle (XCR) and just a few weeks ago I just bought my first handgun (GP100) and will buy on the weekend another (Sig P220 Elite stainless).

It is funny how the posts here make it look like only one apsect is correct when in reality, they are all good ideas.

1. Voting: even a CPC majority win will not protect you indefinitely. All it takes is one election that goes bad and you're right back into the frying pan. The only way you fight is by voting. It is still a good idea to vote.

2. Grandfathering: In the eventual of loss at the polls, grandfathering sure helps. Just ask the people with the 12.x right now. It's an imperfect solution for an imperfect problem.

3. Cost of confiscation: When trying to implement an outright ban, the cost of compensation could change their approach from confiscation to grandfathering as a matter of political and fiscal expediency. No guarentees, but it helps make the argument just in case.

... and lastly is peaceful non-compliance. Ultimately we would all have to "lose" or "have stolen" our firearms so that the government will again have to rethink any draconian measures taken. In the same light, play up "western alienation" and the "urban rural divide" to show that there are far reaching repercussions for grabbing our firearms. We may be charged with mischief, but it is better than being disarmed and we may win supporters if there is widespread use of men in black breaking down families doors in the middel of the night. What would the government do if Molon Labe were not just a saying but the truth about confiscation. How would the government attack 100,000's of otherwise law abiding citizens that all suddenly had all their firearms stolen? Forget them at the cottage, forget them at the range (if you have storage), forget them at another range etc... I'm sorry officer I don't know where they are. I guess they must have been stolen. (oh the irony!)

I want to buy one too before oct 14. but I was looking for the whole thing. but $200 for only the lower is alot cheaper then 1500!. what do you get with the stripped lower for $200? and what would I need to compleate it besides a full upper? just a stock and handgrip? or more? I've never owned a black rifle.

I bought my glock durring last election :D

is Armalite good stuff? whould it not be cheaper to buy a compleate one then peice it together?

from what i gather, the lower is just a hunk of metal, and u buy everything else. i just pm'd chevnek with this:

hey man,

im in the exact same boat as u, heard the rumours, freaked out and picked myself up a lower from wolverine as an insurance policy. gave it a week, and i caved and bought everythign to build myself an m4. im new to ar-15s (shoot c7 and c8 in the military) and own a cx4 storm, so this is a learning process for me too

i went through tacshot.ca for the barrel, receiver, stock, grip, bolt, and lower parts kit.
i went to questar for the quad rail handguards, mags (10rders), case, eotech 512
and went to armseast for the other parts...charging handle, delta ring assembly, trigger, hammer, disconnector, and whatever else wasnt included in the lower parts kit.

got the tacshot stuff on friday (2days shipping at $20!) and its all good lookin stuff. should get the questar stuff on monday, wolverine shipped the lower mid last week which should be here soon, and ill overnight the armseast shipment on monday...hope to have her at the range by friday!

the guys ive dealt with so far have been great, and the prices are extremely reasonable (tacshot had NO TAXES!) and ar-15.com has a forum on assembly and theres some nuts in the area that have all the tools to assemble it.

let me know how u make out...im psyched to see this thing completed!

go conservatives!

cheers,
chris

while it may appear to be a lot cheaper, it adds up really quick. all told im sitting at about 2 grand for everything (albeit the eotech was 500). i think whether u buy a complete ar or build your ar, itll be about the same price (minus optics)...however your build will be all customized to your specs, whereas ull buy a complete ar, and then invest in handguards, sights, stocks and stuff to customize it...thats the way its shaping up for me anyways

Congrats! I have been fence sitting on an ar but I think my liberal inspired purchase will be the t97. Every single time some government jack off tells me I shouldn't have something, I have an overwhelming urge to stockpile( picked up a cz 858 today).

You've gotta love all the people that think that it isn't just going to be widespread un-compensated confiscation. It is. Think Spas-12.

How many Spas-12s were there? There are currently over 448,922 restricted firearms registered in Canada. I don't know how many are ARs and similar rifles, but probably quite a bit. If 1/4 were restricted rifles that's over 100,000 to confiscate.

I am working on obtaining a nice Polish 9mm BSR99.
It's about the only thing I could find that will fit into my two already over stuffed safes.
I had a choice between it, and a Norc AR15. I think I chose well. ;o)

Still might try to find a nice AR , but later. It has been an expensive week!
