Ruger22/45 Lite model also fits the bill. You ain't getting any smaller than 4.25" barrels since the cool .22s are all prohib here. And there are no new model prohibs available to us plebs!

The Swiss Arms SA22 is great. At a very lean 24.6 ounces and an overall length of 7.2”, this handgun can be easily operated by nearly anyone!
Can't buy a new prohib handgun in a store in Canada. If we could, I'd be the proud owner of a Glock 19

Beretta 71 with 4.2" barrel
Browning 1911-22 with polymer frame I would say is the lightest and smallest, smaller dimensions than a SA22 or 22/45 lite, I have 2 one with a polymer frame and one with aluminum frame, I also have a beretta 71, I've never weighed the two but I think the 71 might be heavier, and almost impossible to find mags for. My vote is the browning, still my favorite 22 pistol out of all the ones I own in 22, and not picky either.
While a little off topic, i recently had the opportunity to fire one of these little gems (owned by a 12.x licencee at my range).
Unless i was going to a gunfight in an elevator, and i had a knife as backup (jammy) it's not something i would want to stake my life on, but it was still a hoot to shoot.
Too bad such things aren't available except to grandfathered users. Certainly a great humbler on the range.

Second this. The Norinco M93 Sportsman (a clone of the Colt Woodsman gen 1) weighs 25 oz and has a barrel length of 115 mm (4.52 inch) and the overall length of 212 mm (8.35 inch). And what a shooter! I own the upgraded GSG 1911-22 and the Grand Power K22S and the little Sportsman is on par with both of them in the accuracy department. Fit and finish are very, very good. Indestructible because it's made of steel.

I too have an 'ancient' but small and only just restricted 22 pistol.
A Star Model F, but its full steel frame/slide, with a 4.2 inch barrel.
Got it for the kids to shoot under direct supervision well before the Neos was manufactured. They happily popped away at 10 yard paper targets with big smiles frozen to their faces!
They all found my otherwise very fine 5.5 bull barrel Ruger Mk II, a little too heavy for their pre-teen hands.
If the Berretta Model 71 was more commonly available then (about 15 years ago) it would have been my first choice instead.
