The M1 Garand Build Thread

They will ship everything from a garand except barrels and "complete" bolts and have a $500 limit. They do offer the whole bolt for and extra $33. I was thinking about asking for the internal parts being purchased separately from the bolt. You have to place your order by phone. Online ordering doesn't work for Canada and don't waist your time emailing the international department. They will just tell you to phone in an order.

Just received my order from Numrich, Very nice unused BMB lower, all parts were near mint or NOS. Only bad part I have, is the receiver needs to be bead blasted and reparked.

Not sure you guys realize, but Dupage stocks are just Boyds stocks made to the WW2 pattern that Boyds produces every so often. Most Boyds stocks are made patterned after the heavier post-war birch NM stocks. You can basically turn a Boyds into a Dupage with some sandpaper wrapped around a block and a WW2 stock to compare to. I find even the Dupage stocks need some judicious sanding to get them as slim as a WW2 SA stock.

In other words, Dupage does NOt make their own wood. The re-sell Boyds wood with the handguard metal installed for you.

CMP stocks are also Dupage stocks that CMP stamps their logo into, but ultimately they are also Boyds stocks.

Yup. Knew all that. Looking forward to some alone time in the shop fitting that laminate. Park tank is set up for the Beretta reciever and any other parts that will be put in that stock. Have several "original" stocks on their way too for other receivers.

Looking forward to pics then :) I'm finishing up the rebuild of a decent post-war Springfield Armory (Korean era with stained birch stock) and a pair of M1 carbines, after that I'll be starting on my 7.62 NATO PB M1 build. 75% of the parts are already in-hand. The balance is en-route.

If you have a compressor and a blasting gun and get hold of some parkerizing solution you can DYI parkerizing. I use a large ceramic crock pot to parkerize all Garand parts except for the barrel and op rod. The ceramic bowl is non-reactive, economical on park soln and easy to clean. The electric heat lets you get the park soln up to the correct temp and hold it that way.
