Slamfire,
can you share details? ...
I acquired this Remington 798 rifle as a .300 Win. Mag. (it's actually a Zastava barreled action in a Remington laminate stock). It was retro-fitted with a 24" McGowen Precision barrel chambered for .350 Remington Magnum. A 1-in-12" twist was specified in order to stabilize heavy for caliber projectiles. The barrel is free-floating with the action properly bedded. Since it's a long action, cartridge overall length isn't restricted to the short standard overall length of this round. The throat has been lengthened accordingly.
Heavy projectiles can be seated without taking up case capacity unlike the standard cartridge. This rifle is capable of safely firing 310gr bullets at 2500 fps, and 250gr bullets at 2750 fps. I call it the .350 Rem. Mag. SI (Slamfire Improved).
