The Modern Hunter Rifle UPDATED December 10 2015

hey Shaun I remember in a earlier post that we were going to get paperwork with our rifles stating the non restricted status, will we also be getting a manual on how to clean and oil the modern Hunter and the proper break in of the rifle?

Yes we are currently working on a care and feeding manual, that will be included with every rifle.

Making mags is expensive. The molds for our AT15 Pistol mags alone were over $50000.00, this does not include the engineering and programming to make the molds. So as long as P mags are available we will be employing them. As for the Modern Magnum, we are still looking for solutions that will help keep costs down.

Appreciate the reply so quick after shot show. I agree 100% on using PMags, proven and inexpensive. Hopefully you can find an equally proven mag for the magnum.

You know what would be awesome? If you could gift Rob Furlong one of these MH rifles, have him fire a couple dozen shots, have him give a review, that would go a very long way...

The lightest configuration runs about 8 lbs, so is still a reasonable weight for a hunting rifle.
I found it in a different post on the MH

Alright and what parts make up this lightest configuration? So I can do the math.

Ie carbon barrel, DPMS hand guard, collapsible butt.

That's the part I'm missing for my math

Lightest possible configuration would be something like this.

Basic 6 position Collapsible stock
18.6" Light Contour Stainless OR Carbon Fiber Barrel
Fortis Switch Handguard

I configured my MH with a magpul precision rifle stock which is great for the range but heavy for hunting. I would like to switch it out when I plan to head into the bush. I have an extra AR buffer tube (6 position), CTR stock, rifle buffer, carbine buffer, and spring. Will this work to switch it over?

All you should need to change out is the stock itself.
There are differences in the prs stock for ar15/ar10 but they say the ar10 stock can be used on a ar15 for additional clearance on the charging handle. So as long as you select a stock that will clear the side charging handle, you should be good to go

That is all of the required parts, there is a minor modification required to the 6 position buffer tube to accomodate our buffer retention pin. If you will be picking this up locally, bring that tube with you and we'll get you all set up.

What is the modification required, would a guy with basic tools and understanding be able to handle it?

I was wondering if we could get flutes for the barrels, selections of twists and 5R rifling profile. Thx

Fluting barrels is strictly for cosmetics, it serves absolutely no useful purpose apart from upping the price.
Here is more info on our position. http://albertatacticalrifle.com/why-us/faq/13-do-you-flute-barrels-and-bolts

None of the barrel makers that we are working with on this project offer 5R rifling, so short of a full custom barrel option, no.
The barrel makers we are working with are ALL well known respected makers of match grade barrels.

The more options we offer for barrel makers and custom things the more expensive the rifles become. Time to keep it all straight, order from many suppliers rather than a few all has a cost, which then gets passed along to the end user.
