The Modern Hunter Rifle UPDATED December 10 2015

Nice, I remember you saying you want to make a .223 version in another thread. I'm assuming that that's going to take another FRT approval, as well as the time you spend developing it?

Also, is the rear portion of the upper bolted to the lower with that plate that sites behind the charging handle? Also noticed the hole on the top behind the top rail, what's that going to be used for? Looks like it might be threaded.

So I see these being billed here and in the US as the "modern hunting rifle". Its still an AR pattern rifle. Not the first thing I would grab for a hunting trip. Wazzup with that? And restricted to boot.

The very very first post clearly states " NON RESTRICTED" ......

I am thinking this would be an awesome yote gun....

We intend to scale this platform down to 1 that will accommodate the 223 sized cartridges, when is the good question. I fully expect we will have to submit a prototype of is for inspection as well as it will have a unique FRT number, but being a variant of the MH I suspect a shorter time for classification.
Rather than a rear take down pin we designed an integral lock pin that retains the rear part of the upper, in doing so had to relocate the buffer retainer, which is what you see as the threaded hole on the top of the lower where the charge handle would be if this was a rear charge AR style rifle.

Not sure how it would be in the USA as we have not even approached that market and frankly have no intention of doing so.
What is called a Modern hunting rifle by today's standards were actually designed in the early 1950s where as the normal "traditional hunting rifles" go back to the late 1800s when there was FAR more wood on the planet and everyone disguised their rifles in it.
Times have progressed so modular rifles and composites are now coming of age despite the fudd mentality of some hunters.

Make NO mistake there is still a huge market for conventional hunting rifles although plastic stocks seem to now outnumber wood ones and model Ts can still be daily drivers, but some folks prefer more modern products.

Most "modern" semi automatic rifles in Canada ARE restricted. Our Modern Hunter however is NON RESTRICTED.

Not all of it and didnt read all of the first post. Just exploring AR pattern rifles and nobody I know owns one. Odd that I was told that all AR pattern rifles have been labelled as restricted by our glorious guvamint. SO this is NOT an AR pattern and something much different? Sure looks like one. Edgemakate me.

This should be mandatory reading upon joining CGN

You're asking for someone to explain this thread and rifle to you, and you haven't even read the entire first post. You seem to be suffering from extreme laziness. I don't think there is any way to "edgemakate" you to solve this issue.

For the most part your sources are correct on the AR platforms being restricted.
We went to considerable effort and time to design a rifle that although shares many characteristics of an AR10 is also very different in many respects. There is no compatibility with any other makers AR10 variant with our rifle. Hence our rifle was classified as non restricted due to the fact that there is no compatibility with AR10s.
Sounds dumb right? But despite being strange it is true. Our gun laws were purposefully drafted to be as confusing as possible and leave as much room for interpretation as possible.

We had an inquiry as to whether we could get in the Fortis Switch™ .308 Rail 15" hand guards.
The answer is yes, but we need to purchase a quantity of them. IF we get enough requests we will add this to the list of options.
Please let us know your thoughts on these.

I am definetely a prospective buyer though I have not pre-oredered mind you. I really like the fortis switch rail, and if it where an option it would be my personal preference if that holds any weight. Have to dig myself out of this hole first before I can afford a toy like that though. #1 on my wishlist though. Great job it's a beautiful rifle, thanks for all the hard work it's appreciated by many.

We literally just got it put together less than 30 minutes ago. The whining noise in the shop you heard while here was a milling machine doing the engraving on the upper.
Will weigh it tomorrow with the PRS, it has been a looooong day today.

Uh.... can you post up a photo of it assembled with the PRS? The collapsible stuff just really ruins the aesthetics. This rifle is way ###ier with the PRS on it...... Maybe toss on a nightforce or something so that we can all drool over how great is could be...???
