In my previous post, I left out 'high powered,' as in .30 calibre. Thank you.
So, having now watched the full video, I find this otherwise very knowledgeable guy has committe4d a cardinal error that every gun owner should avoid at all costs- he's referred to an ordinary bolt action rifle as a 'sniper rifle.' No no no no no, that should not ever be done, not ever. Talk about giving ammunition to the gun banners, that ranks as a #1. Is he that stupid, or was he being sensational to draw views, it's not for me to say.
Aside from that, I agree with him that that the configuration of that rifle stinks in almost every regard. The stock, the optic, the barrel, and the magazines- Cooper proposed a 10 round magazine, not a 5. I don't want one, thanks, but if you insist on giving me one, leave it at the back door.
Another thought about ammo conservation- looking at Cormac McCarthy's book and movie 'The Road,' there's a reason that every firearm seen after a disaster as prolonged as the one imagined is either a bolt action hunting rifle or a revolver*- old Cormac really thought that one through.
* and yes there was the ship's flare gun, but let's not get stupid.
