I agree with shredder and will add my Model 1375 Witchita single shot target rifle, thirdly a Pre-64 Model 94.

Until the shell stop wears itself out on the bottom linkage. Shoot it enough and you will know exactly what I mean.
(1967 was well within the peak period of poor materials)
I have a 1956 made carbine that is much more reliable.

Well, i have 2 members of my herd of guns, the first being my BSA factory sporter on a p-14 action, chambered in the 303 brit caliber, shoots 2" groups at 150 yrds, excellent rifle, never let me down, the second would be my handi rifle in 45-70 GOVT cal, for 350$ the most accurate ive ever owned for the$$
3" groups at 150 yrds with 500 grain cast handloads
also shoots ex with jacketed 350gr bullets

out of maybe 150 guns ive owned.. the only one thats never failed me is my mini 14
lever guns are ok but once you get a shell stuck under the carrier the gun becomes a club unless you have access to an arsenal of screw drivers..
bolt guns are usually ok but too prone to operator error.. i.e. closing bolt on empty chamber with a push feed.. or getting a double feed with a controlled feed rifle..
never had a shotgun that didnt jam at least once
and rimfires are just too finnicky about their ammo diet to be trusted

I would say you have not spent alot of time with a Pre-64 Winchester levergun. I've owned several different pump action shotguns, and I can't remember a single jam, except for a friend's dirty Winchester 1200. Once had a Ruger Ranch Rifle, it would hardly hold a 7inch group @100 yards.(once) Nor would it do any better for several other guys. I was very happy when I eventually sold it.
If you can't operate a basic boltgun, that's your fault.
Your rimfire statement is vague & misleading. All I can say is there is over a billion 22LR sold in the USA alone every year.
I think you should spend some time out at the Marlborough Forest and just think about it.

With only two notable exceptions, ALL of my rifles are 100% reliable. The exceptions are an old Winchester semi auto rimfire, which is fuzzy about ammo, and a sporterized Mauser 98 built on God knows which action, but probably some kind of Crap made in Eastern Europe.

my old Lee-Enfield 303 British, had it for about 25 years and was used buy me and a number of buddies for moose hunting before I sold it
