The mystery milsurp special tool thread.

I hope to go to my friends farm and check out some of his military equipment he should have the Bren gun carrier up and running by spring .I wish I could call him dad (no offence to my present dad) but it ain't happening but I did get a "when I go get your ass over to my place with a truck" which is pretty dam close to "son" in my books all joking aside I relly hope he has a long life and he is able to keep on collecting BTW when I saw his 25 pdr hooked on his pick up Iforgot to say what was in the back of the truck ..3 Bren tripods ,and 18pdr wheel and a morter .how do you post pics these days I have a few tools not seen yet and I'm not sure how to do it .

he has an Sherman and another I'm not sure of the proper name but it has the main gun then another big gun lower down to the left on what looks kinda like a Sherman chassis .he also has trucks ,jeeps ,and he's working on a half track .he has several artillery pieces I think they all work .for sure he has the 25pdr with limbar(sp) and the 2pdr I think he has an 18pdr as well .he keeps asking me to come over but it's hard with 2 kids and a messed up schedule BUT he says I can bring my boy as long as he keeps quite about what he see's which he will . Thid guy is a super nice gentleman who never married (always had a girlfriend) who spent his time and money collecting all his life I'd guess he's 65-70 .when ever I do get over to see him I'll discreetly post what I can .I'll see him in December and try to lock down a date to go over .

Check out my website. http://www.stormpages.com/dimitrios2/PBT/ That is the link to my photobucket tutorial. :)

Sten,

Your vast collection of tools just goes to show me how little I know about military tools. :runaway:

PS Sten I'm stumped on that last one.

I knew I could do it sooner or later. But to be fair, this last tool is for a bit bigger gun than we have been dealing with up to now. I'm sure once jammer or smgcon show up, the'll know it. I also would have thought that most weapons techs would also recognize it.

Sten,

Only reason that I found the other ones is that I used the power of Google! :D

Perhaps someday after many years of collecting I'll have as big of collection of tools and the like as you. :)

used that quick release more then a few time in my army days back in the RCD I'll let someone else guess what it is..plus I gave a hint too help ;)

Some sort of tow-hook? armoured vehicle recovery? or pulling tracks on?

(offical wild ass guesses, hopfully somewhere close  )

In a way, I guess you could call it a tow hook. The armoured vehicle part of it is a red herring. As per the title of the thread, it's a specialty tool for a gun.
If no-one gets it by the afternoon, I'll spill the beans. In the meantime, heres another more modern tool for you guys to try.

Im guess that tool has something to do with testing a mortar. So you can stand back safely?
