I got this idea on another thread where we started showing some of the specialty tools for the CF weapons. I know some of the tools I saw in the weapons shop were for guns that were osolete before the guys working there were born.
Anyway, heres the first one. It should now be officially obsolete, but was still in use 25 years ago.

You got right gun, but what does the tool do?

Sten bolt extractor retaining tool? I'd rather be lucky than good!

And you got the tool right, but the wrong gun.

OK, that one was easy. Now heres a tough one. These tools can/could be found in CF weapons shops here and there accross canada. Strange thing is I could never figure out why? First guy to guess can have a free one, but has to pay postage.

Most impressive Dimitri. Care to tell us how you knew that?
Now why would these still be in DND weapons shops in the late 90s?

I found it by typing in -> Machine gun "spanner wrench"

Qoutes for the spanner wrench because I thought it might have been to adjust the machine gun itself, turns out it was a wrong guess but the first site that pops up with that if you click the "I'm feeling lucky" is this one -> w w w.bmgparts.com/tools.html

Which I scrolled down and saw it was actually for a tripod. :dancingbanana:

That right there is a Muzzle bearing reamer, the M1919 had one that looked similar execpt the one I found (also on the same site I got the last picture) has 2 extra set nuts as you can see:

I'll keep digging. :)

Most impressive, youre 2 for 2.
I used to think the reamer was common because when I was in the armoured militia, every tool kit for the GPMG had one. 25 years later, when I try and find one, I discover they are far and few between.
I guess if I post anymore tools I had better stay away from the Brownings, since that web site has just about all of the tools covered.

In the 1919 field of potatoes, the reamer is just a medium potatoe. Here are a couple of the big potatoes:

The brass one I got when supply stores was throwing it out. It was being held in with automotive parts. It has the C/i\ on it.
The second one found me a couple weeks ago at a gunshow. It appears to be unused.

Each of these is worth a nice M-1 Garand, with a bit of change left to buy bandoleers of ammo.

Cool! Tell me how much did thouse cost you ??

Must have cost a pretty penny for that 2nd one unless ofcourse the owner thought it was junk!
