The New Canadian Ranger Rifle

I am not sure if Diemaco was ever Canadian owned but I could be wrong. I have heard grumblings that just about every penny that Colt Canada makes is siphoned off to Colt USA. As far as issuing cheap rifles to the CF, my SKS will keep them all on a Fig 11 at 300m, what else does an average soldier need, except maybe in the North? I think a M-H would be well worth a test but it uses the wrong ammunition.

From my years in the gun biz, everything old is new again, there are really very few new ideas. Same goes for sights, they surely can cobble something together.

except they 70+ year old design could be brought back into production making them new rifles the no4 mk1 fits the bill for the rangers it and it could made to fit the needs of them. and lol because a lot of sporting rifle made today are based off masuers made 100 years ago
 
Current industrial design for the #4 is jig-based. That isn't how a production line would be restarted today,
unless you happen to have the jigs in your basement and are willing to donate them to the cause :)

For example, S&W reworked their product line a while ago to make it CNC-compatible.
That is one of the ways modern firearm production is done.
 
As Diopter and I would remind you, the K31 was designed from the get-go to be used in the cold, and yes, Switzerland DOES get cold enough for it to matter. The service load is a 174gr FMJBT exiting at 2650 fps, and Prvi Partizan make a soft-nose version that isn't too far behind for the Ranger/hunter to use effectively to feed his family. It has a six-round magazine, although a friend of mine here in yUK has made a ten-round magazine that works perfectly.

They are cheap and spares are plentiful and the quality, as anyone who has one knows, it extraordinary.

It's not a Ross, but it IS a straight-pull. ;)

the #4 could be made on CNC equipment there's guys making them in the Khyber pass with less

needs to be in .308 and stainless sadly im doubting it will happen for a few more years because nobody wants to hand over heir designs to colt Canada I can't blame them I would not do that either

Armalite AR-15 came out in 1959, so it's about 55.

I talked with a couple of Rangers who were on a course in my area last fall. They love the Enfield and don't want to lose it. They also claim outstanding accuracy in a rapid fire course of fire.

its part of our heritage and it really would not be all that costly to start production on new ones even in .308 with a detachable mags(AIA rifles). "rapid fire" could be done quite accurately even in a mad minute scenario
 
7.5x55 internal case volume is actually between .308 and the 30-06. They chose not to load it to the max pressure to increase barrel and throat life.

From Chuck Hawks website:

.30-06 Springfield (R-P): 68.0 grains

I just measured a 1984 GP11 case to the top of the shoulder with water and the water weight is 60.9 grains with a PACT BBK II electronic scale.
The Gp11 case only was 197.0 grains
