The New Colt Python Officially Unveiled

Wasn't 100% sure that the cylinder issue of the new Pythons manufactured in the first couple months had anything to do with a loose side plate because no one actually looked into it before sending it back to Colt, Hickok 45 made a video recently with the initial Python that was sent back at Colt for the issue then fixed and he reviewed it again trouble free, he said that he initially should have looked at the side plate to see if it was properly fixed but he never did and shipped the gun back to Buds without taking a look at it, he kinda felt sad about not having a look to confirm what the issue was.

I just saw a video that shows the issue when it actually happens. At 2:15 you clearly see the bottom of the side plate near the screw that has a evident gap, you also see the cylinder release showing a large gap because of the loose side plate, so I now know that this was indeed the main issue. I'm happy to know that Colt made it right and explained the issues to the wide public.

The 2020 Python shown in the video was an early manufactured revolver even though the video dates from 3 weeks ago.

He confirms that it's an early Python: "it’s definitely a gen 1. I sent it back to Colt already but the Serial number is in the low 2000s."

I’m looking to get the serial # range of all 2020 Pythons in the country since the first batch arrived last April. So if interested please leave your complete or partial serial number with the last couple digit with an X and indicate if 4 1/4” or 6”.

From what I know at the moment is that Colt makes one run of barrel length for a few weeks and then switch to the other length. Serial from each barrel length should be about 1000 apart (3-4 weeks production between each length) unless one from the last from one barrel run and the other the first from the other barrel run. That makes consecutive # in different barrel length is also nearly impossible to have.

Dan, CP has issues with every parcel they deliver right now. I’ve had parcels delivered a week after standards without ever being updated in the system until it was on my doorstep.

I presently have a parcel sitting in Pr. George, BC that has not moved for two days. It took two just to get to Pr. George from Richmond, a nine hour trip by truck. I am now told it might be delivered today even though their website says it still is in Pr. George. I likely will have it in my hands before the system says it has reached Terrace.

Take Care

Bob
