The New Colt Python Officially Unveiled

Just to let Ontario folks know, I made the final payment on my 4" on April 20 and just received it today. The approval was dated April 22 to June 30.

Received mine today (4.25") from Bullseye North after 10 weeks from the date of purchase.

The 2020 Python is exceptionally well built. I've owned a Smith and Wesson 27-2, a Ruger GP100, a Chiappa Rhino, and a Manurhin MR88. The Python is definitely feels the most well put together of them all, with a shout out to the 27-2 for being quite close actually.

I find the DA trigger pull to be really quite smooth. The SA trigger is surprisingly heavy, also with more travel before the break than I was expecting. My 27-2 had a better trigger. But the Python wins on ergonomics and style. I also swapped out the grip for the Pachmayr gripper grips. The stock ones were quite large. Also swapped out the front sight and installed a YELLOW fiber optic. Looks and feels exceptional. Can't wait to take it to the range!

Glad to “finally” see them landing in the owners hands!! Don’t forget to provide the partial serial number with barrel length and some pictures!!

Harry,

Superb snakes....
My serial : PY0058..

I measured the trigger with the "el cheapo" gauge consisting of bottles of 1/2 liter water and a cord.
Attaching the cord to the trigger and lifting by the barrell until it goes "click".
Double action : 6 bottles = 3 kilos = 6,6 lbs
Single action : 3 bottles = 3,3 lbs.

I agree this system is quite rough but I don't need anymore precision, given the fact that your trigger will lighten with use.
I just wanted to have an approx reading.

The simili ivory looks a bit "pimp gun" but I have to say much more comfortable due to a thinned top part of the grip, when the OEM is quite thick....and I have big mitts.

Here is an image with the Python and King Cobra. I like the weight and feel of the Python. It is only 3 ounces lighter than my 6 inch S&W 686. I really prefer the Hogue rubber monogrip. The wood grips look great but they don’t fit my hand very well. The Cobra so called target grip was even worse. The trigger is very smooth in double action but I find the single action trigger to be surprisingly heavy. Having said that though I only have the S&W L frame and N frame revolvers to compare and these two are my only double action Colts. I don’t think one is better than the other they are just different animals. I have a Hogue grip on order for the Python and I’ll go back to the range when it arrives.

Awesome! Let us know how she shoots when you hit the range!

I posted this on the "Show your Pythons " thread....should have been here :

Just #####ing.....

Aesthetically speaking, how about a 5" barrel ?
More or less cut from the muzzle and removing the whole first vent.

Colt would have to shorten the length of the vent to have a total of 3 with a 5” barrel length. With the actual vent length, 5” barrel would look awkward.

This Altamont engraved 2020 Python just sold on GB for $5925:
