Phil Shoemaker pointed out :

Ruger sold over 8000 rifles in the first year alone!

I know of One Zambian PH who ordered a $13,500 synthetic stocked Echols' Legend in 375 Ruger.

Ruger has already sold more 375 Rugers in the first year than H&H has in the past 98. (375 H&H's) It is here to stay.

Imagine that....Ruger has sold more of it's proprietary chambered rifles in a short span, than H&H sold of their proprietary chambered rifles in 98 years!

I'm sure there's a similar post extolling the virtues of the .25WSSM somewhere on the internet:rolleyes:

That would be H&H the gunmaker, not the caliber. Kinda like comparing Savage to Rigby.

Yes, Holland & Holland the gunmaker has sold LESS of thier proprietary caliber than Ruger has.

Not sure that you mean, the 375 H&H is by no means proprietary.
The fact more Sturm,Ruger & Co. guns have been sold in 375 Ruger than Holland & Holland guns in 375 H&H goes without saying. It's been a while since a genuine H&H came up on the EE for $900.

Ummm...errr....
the 375 H&H WAS a proprietary cartridge 98 years ago, as is the 400 H&H, 378 Roy, etc.

Later.....

98 years ago it *was* their proprietary cartridge, as well it remains as their most famous. Sorry if that wasn't clear to you.

Now the MIGHTY NEW KING is also non proprietary....I predicted a year agot hat other rifle companies would begin clambering the cartridge, and I predict that more will step up because they don't want to be left behind....

Perhaps you should have worded your post a bit differently.

I wonder when Ruger will replace the 375 H&H with the 375 Ruger in their flagship DGR Mark II Magnum. Hasn't happened yet, and I don't even see it listed as a choice. :p

Given the popularity of the NEW KING, they might do that, since the Alaskans and Africans are far out selling their Magnum rifles, but they are going to have to produce enough of the Alaskans and Africans to meet demand first.;)

Ahh a couple of points there court juster:

First off the 375 H&H is technically not a propietary caliber. Propietary means only they make it.

Second the gross value of those Holland & Holland rifles probably dwarf the miniscule vale of the Ruugers.

Where is your psuedo monarchy's cousin the 338 Federal these days?

Yeah, we already dealt with that. We can just call it their most famous cartridge if it makes you feel better.;)

Over 98 years? I should hope so!:p

I've never seen a ,338 Federal cartridge, nor has it been crowned the NEW KING of .338's, so I dont' know why you are even bringing this up to me. This is a thread about the NEW KING OF THE .375's...Please pay attention.
:p

Holland & Holland allowed every company that wanted to build rifles in 375 Belted Rimless Nitro Express to do so from the begining .

Brought up the 338 Federal to remind you of where the 375 Ruuger is headed into obscurity along with it.

And it remains their most famous cartridge...But in 98 years they haven't sold as many rifles rifles so chambered as Ruger did in 1 year..

Brought up the 338 Federal to remind you of where the 375 Ruuger is headed into obscurity along with it.

Except the sales for rifles chmabered in THE NEW KING have been staggering, far more than Ruger predicted...And now there are other companies chambering the NEW KING as well.

I don't recall the .338 Fed setting sales records ablaze...:D
