The NEW KING is taking off!

Not sure if it's 'The King' or the next 'obsolete cartridge'. Others can decide that...

Can't be a bad thing that other manufacturers are chambering for it now. More will follow. When Kimber and/or Winchester start that'll be a real good sign IMO.

I do own and like (ALOT) a 375Ruger. Both the cartridge and rifle it came chambered in.

Had ammo and brass before the rifle arrived. Still see ammo locally, not so sure on brass. Haven't been looking, the amount I get to shoot 150 cases will last me a long time...:(

Here is a black bear I shot shortly after obtaining the NEW KING. It was probably the first animal taken by a BC resident with the 375 Ruger

Here is a decent blacktail I shot the second to last day of the season

How was the meat damage on the blacktail? (Very nice!) And what load?I intend on using my 375 Ruger as my one gun for all my rifle hunting in BC.
BTW I can't believe the negativity towards this cartridge. This is the case
all original "short mags" should have been based on. Anything with a shoulder adequate to headspace on certainly doesn't need a decorative belt.
Its great other companies are picking this one up, pretty sure its here to stay.

for christmas the warden let me buy myself a gun , and was this close to buying the 375. next time though ill join the kings court.

I was using a 270gr TSX bullet with H4350 powder. I shot the deer at about 20 feet away, and unfortunately nailed it through both shoulders, which ruined quite a bit of shoulder meat. However, if you shoot a deer in the shoulders at 20 feet with just about any load, you are going to get some meat damage.

The 270gr TSX is more of a buffalo bullet than a general purpose bullet for BC, and I will probably settle on using the 260 or 300 gr Accubond for all around hunting, maybe switching to TSX if I get a grizzly draw.

There are always those that talk crap about a new cartridge. I'm sure when the .375 H&H was introduced some people whined that it sucked.:p

Nice bear/deer Gate but I'm still trying to grasp where this King thing is coming from.

Here is an example I shot a black bear about that size this spring with my 375JDJ with 260gr Accubonds @ 2300fps so I'm not seeing what the big deal with this 375 Ruger is yet... :p

It's tragectory is only marginally better if at all than a 375H&H and I got rid of my H&H years ago because its rainbow tragectory was just that a rainbow tragectory...

The 375 JDJ has been around for about 30 years and it's almost completely unknown...It is no candidate for KING status, sorry.:p

If you lack the knowledge or skills to use a cartridge with a trajectory like a 375 H&H/Ruger at longer ranges, that certainly isn't the cartridges fault.

Heck, guys have been using the 45/70 and similar cartridges to shoot long range for years..A trajectory like a 375 Ruger/H&H has is almost a laser beam compared to those cartridges. ;)

To help you understand more, maybe you need to spend less time shooting Ultra Mags at 25 yard bear targets and more time with the target a bit further out.:p
