The NEW KING is taking off!

So if you are one of the very fortunate owners of a NEW KING, what is your next hunt with your NEW KING?

I didn't get a spring grizzly draw, so next up is Spring bear...But I haven't killed anything with my new 303 Ruger #1 yet, so I think I will carry that quite a bit. The NEW KING will likely come out with me a few times, though, especially once I get some 250gr TTSX bullets, which are presently in the mail.:dancingbanana: :dancingbanana:

I don't hunt bears anymore so my next hunt will hopefully be Yukon Moose and Caribou in the Fall, and Mulies around the cabin.
Perhaps my 250 TTSX bullets will be in the mail also....

I am trying to find out how to post pics and then I could start with that, but in the meantime I could fill you in. I purchased it in 1976 and put a Weaver 2.5-8x with the wide lense. I shot it rarely but started working with it a bit after I moved to Alberta in1978 and found it would shoot OK but would get a lot of copper fouling. I checked the rifling and found the lands looked just like the edge of a file, now to start this was just a push feed run of the mill{maybe the dregs} mod 70, not even a safari. I did a bore lap on it and wow it started shooting moa. I shot from rabbits to elk with it using nosler partitions 260s. Four years ago I sent it to Paul Reibin of Kamloops and told him I wanted it rebarreled and the action and lugs trued up.He sends it back work done and I think that I want a new stock for it. I had Robertson composites do a couple of stocks for Browning BBRs in the past so I thought of getting one of them for it. When I checked with them they were too busy and could not promise it for the fall. Back to Paul Reibin and told him a McMillan would be nice or equivalent. Bingo it comes back with a Robertson on it and what a nice piece of work. Out to the range for a quick try and with the same loads 270 gr Hornadys three shot cloverleaf I could cover witha quarter. Two days later with my son on a moose hunt I drop one with a neck shot. Next I try Barnes triple shocks and the same grouping! Two more years and two more moose one shot each altho not neck shots. and a six by six elk.
I have shot about 8 elk with this rifle I had not got into moose hunting. The scope I am using now is a Bausch & Laumb 1.5 x 6 which has been with the rifle for almost 20 yrs.
With the accurracy I am getting now I am going to a Leupold vari X 3 4-12. I own and shoot many other rifles but this is my go to rifle. It seems to be a perfect fit.
I am planning to have another built in the Ruger .375 but not to replace this one.

The Emperor and I will head out for spring bear, when spring actually arrives here. Might take the Crown Prince (9.3x62) or the Deity (470 NE) as well. Of course, there is "the New Cool" (300 H&H or Super Thirty for extra-cool points) that would do a dandy job, or the Old Plowhorse (30-06) if I'm feeling like a light rifle. Haven't got my "Crusty Veteran" (45-70) or that would be an option as well.

So many titled friends, so few bears.

Its all about inclusiveness

I think that Ruger has done a lot recently to promote gun culture. For this, they should be applauded. After all, the more gun owners there are, the more able we are to maintain our rights.

The 375 Ruger appeals to the ### Lesbian and Transgender community, just as the 375 Holland and Holland appeals to heterosexuals. So keep shooting the Ruger, ladies. Don't let anyone tell you it is wrong.

Thats nice of you to 'come out' and thank them like that.

I have heard that all ruger rifles in 375 ruger come with matching Handbags. For that well coordinated Sportsman.

I'm gonna just throw it out there that a caliber between .338 and .416 is just unnecessary. Like throwing in a .325 WSM between the .300 WM/WSM and the .338 WM.

I was talking about this just the other day with a worker in Jo-Brook's, it's like playing the price is right.
