Robar company has made a Scout Type "Dragoon" rifle chambered in the NEW KING of 375's- the 375 Ruger.

The bottom plate of the magazine was halfway off from the recoil of 2 shots...

I think my shoulder (broken once, dislocated often) will take a pass.

Ya, ruger cartridges have always been big sellers
Everything else they come out with has been splitting hairs with very popular and established cartridges, what other 35+ chambering does it compete with? Not like 375anythkng are “big” sellers, very much a niche gun. They seem to be selling pretty well, much better than anything else close to it power wise. Personally in the last few years I’ve found more clients carrying them than any other medium-large bore chambered rifle. Great bear and moose cartridge.

At $90. for a box of ammo and checking 2 suppliers only 1 has it in stock, and then, just 2 boxes. To me, the King is DOA.
Its no 308 that’s for sure. I found three results on my first hit, it’s around I’ve seen it stock regularly at crappy tire in Smithers and Terrace even. 375hh though Is another story. Definatly a reloaders cartridge, and a cartridge/rifle combo that gets carried a lot more than shot in most cases I’d imagine.

Maybe if someone dances a little jig they will sell....

I don’t think you’d have any trouble selling them, just need to look how well rugers scout rifles are selling. Even so have you seen half the guns people buy these days yikes! A very well built rifle with arguably one the best detach mags on the market(may need a spot weld there lol), excellent peeps, excellent stock, high quality internals in a platform that’s all the rage with a lot off oomph and you think it’ll be a hard sell? Plus I don’t think it was ever designed to compete volume wise with the likes of a rem 700, ya a small shops custom rifle, a prototype at that.

Scout rifles are intended to use available military ammo.
Ive always found this odd, it’s a great platform so why limit it to military cartridges? I get it, 40 years ago Jeff cooper said so but really that’s a silly limitation. I personally think it’s a pretty good match to the platform, quick handling and fast target acquisition for in tight <100 yards where this cartridge shines, but also has enough legs on it to take a decent poke.

Not my dream rifle but I think some are here to poo poo gatehouse more so than the rifle. Imagine say hoytcannon posted that rifle, the parrots would be squawking a a different tune me thinks

I like the grip in the stock, but I'm not a traditionalist when it comes to that stuff.

Not into the scout rifle idea, short & compact yeah, but the forward mount thing is a wash to me.

As for this being done in .375ruger .. no thanks. >308 all day long. :dancingbanana: someone had to do it :p

Jeff Coopers Scout Rifle concept also included what he called the "Dragoon Rifle" which was a similar concept but with a more powerful cartridge. Its why Steyr introduced the 376 Steyr in their Scout Rifle format. The 376 Steyr cartridge didn't exactly light the world on fire- unlike the 375 Ruger- so making a "Dragoon" rifle chambered for the NEW KING just makes sense. I believe the rifle in the video is a prototype, and magazine floorplate problems would be easily sorted out.

While not as prolific as 308, Ammunition and components for the NEW KING are easily obtained with a telephone call.

I always think of this when the usual crowd show up Laugh2

Then there is the other "usual crowd" they show up too...

The gun is built on an M77, clearly no beef there, love me some 77... the .375 Ruger cartridge is an excellent one, always thought so... the scout concept? Meh, pass... the stock, yuck.
