The NEW KING of Scout Rifles

Did you see the thing darn near jump out of his hands at the bench. Despite the video being an ad for the robar, he spent a lot of time talking about the 376 steyr over the ruger/robar.

I believe the rifle in the video is a prototype, and magazine floorplate problems would be easily sorted out.
While not as prolific as 308, Ammunition and components for the NEW KING are easily obtained with a telephone call."

When Steyr introduced Jeff Cooper's Scout rifle concept there was not sorting out a magazine floor plate problem.
Even a Queen has to learn to crawl before she can run with the big dogs.
And if one can not run with the big dogs then clearly they should stay on the porch or in this case a few more weeks/months of R&D before someone professes they are the new queen.
Can you smell what the rock is cookin.... it sure aint another Custom Caliber by Ruger...

Tight Groups and someone feed that yappie mutt some peanut butter !

Can’t smell it but it seems to be doing fine 12 years later, I think 5 seconds with a tig and shed be good to go. No, with steyrs rifle there were/ are issues with light strikes and fragile bipeds

Careful Rob ;). That yappie mutt may have more on the ball than you first think. Perhaps it's merely expressing its opinion of the the Ruger 375 'neutered' king in a scout rifle.

Once again Ruger leads the way with big goofy magazines for that extra bit of uselessness. At least they left off the muzzle brake.

Sign of the times perhaps. I bought somewhat similar 'set-ups' for a pair of Wby Vanguard blaze S2's and  they're 'nothing to be proud of' either. Live & learn I guess.

Perhaps you are unfamiliar with the term "prototype" and the purpose of building a prototype?

A prototype is an early sample, model, or release of a product built to test a concept or process or to act as a thing to be replicated or learned from

They used an AI magazine with the prototype, and obviously upon testingthey learned from the testing and decided to reinforce the standard AI magazines. They mention this in a later video, here:

You know John, it doesnt matter what kinda gun someone shoots or owns, but when they say it is the King or the best ever gun/caliber this automatically pops into my head.

But, to each their own..unless we are talking about a Weatherby, cause everyone knows there is nothing that shoots flatter or hits harder than a Weatherby.

The Steyr had a number of complaints, but the light strike thing was a real concern. Far more of a concern than the floorplate shifting on a prototype rifle- a problem they addressed immediately before customers had to deal with it.

Pretty amazing that the NEW KING was introduced 12 years ago, and it's been such a success story, with firearms and ammunition readily available in North American and Africa. Meanwhile the negative naysayers on CGN were yapping about "stock up on brass, it will be discontinued and won't be available in 5 years!"

Oh, :) to clarify. I'm not complaining about the two Wby Blaze S-2's I purchased.:d No complaints there. Just sorry I decided to purchase the after market big clip set-ups to modify them with, that I  thought were a good idea at the time. Not one of my better moves.

Call me weird ... but I love hinged floor plates ... lol

OK , you're weird . That's alright , so am I . I've always preferred hinged floorplates on hunting rifles , just a matter of familiarity I suppose . I've also lost a few mags over 40+ years . Not a reflection on the practicality of detachable mags , just on my habit of losing anything detachable .
