Hear comes Savage's answer to Marlin's XL7/XS7 series. Let's wait for the reviews.
Mind you, $329 is their introductory price. XL7 started with $349 CAD.
With the recoil lug embedded in the stock, instead of attached to the receiver/barrel, would there be any issues bedding the stock? Is the recoil lug going to be as effective in that configuration?
Could it use regular after-market barrels made for Savage/Stevens rifles?
The price point seems to be good on these guns, would like to see one in person.
Tikka has had a detached recoil lug since the M55/65 series.

Damn, I'll buy one within a month unless I hear a horrible review. Sorry but the detachable magazine & price tag has me sold. And it doesn't look too ugly.
But yes, very odd move on savage to go and compete... with themselves?
Oh well, I'll bite. They're going to get my money anyways.
Does it mean there will be a $159 clear-out sale on Stevens 200 when the Edge comes out?
