The new SAVAGE "EDGE

I wonder how that detached recoil lug concept will work?

I guess the lug is already bedded, the issue will be that is fits tightly into the recess?

Hear comes Savage's answer to Marlin's XL7/XS7 series. Let's wait for the reviews.

Mind you, $329 is their introductory price. XL7 started with $349 CAD.

can't say I've bought a gun based on looks, yet... ok maybe one but it was camo!!!!!
so being a Savage I image it shoots very well... and as ugly as it is, it looks better then the stevens 200. I also thought A7 first time I saw it a few posts back. Sorry Sako!
Anyhow I'm sure there is a market for another cheap, accurate gun!

With the recoil lug embedded in the stock, instead of attached to the receiver/barrel, would there be any issues bedding the stock? Is the recoil lug going to be as effective in that configuration?

Could it use regular after-market barrels made for Savage/Stevens rifles?

The price point seems to be good on these guns, would like to see one in person.

Tikka has had a detached recoil lug since the M55/65 series.

I wonder if it will take RifleBasix, SSS or Timney triggers??

edit: apprently it won't take Savage aftermarket triggers, although I am sure they will be forthcoming if edge sales are high enough.

Damn, I'll buy one within a month unless I hear a horrible review. Sorry but the detachable magazine & price tag has me sold. And it doesn't look too ugly.

But yes, very odd move on savage to go and compete... with themselves?
Oh well, I'll bite. They're going to get my money anyways.

I highly suggest you guys get the Stevens, it is by far a better choice. Unless of course your buying a dedicated hunting rifle and are not going to sell it then it doesn't matter at all, just get whatever features you want.

I have had this dream of a new, out of the box accurate, long range target rig in 7mm-08 for under $500. laugh all you want, but it is doable.

Any new 110 action under $200 on sale, would perfectly fit this bill.

Now, all I have to do is to wait for Leupold to have a clear-out sale on some of their long range II series glass, and I will be on my way. :D
