The new Tikka T1X Rimfire

Yes I believed it might be possible due to the video with the mag being said to clip into the bottom of the action. However it looked to me like the floor plate was where it clipped into. So I contacted Stoeger and asked. The video made it seem as if the A1 chassis might work. That’s not the case.

I was planning on getting a 6.5 cm A1 and put it in the krg Bravo while using the A1 chassis for the t1x as a type of cool trainer for my 308 in the A1 chassis. Plus I don’t have any 22 rifles in a chassis system. Also it would have been the real system rather than the BS Ruger did with their 22 version of the RPR. Expensive but just on the verge of being doable. Until I confirmed it won’t work. So back to the plan of waiting for a sale on a t3x and putting it in the krg Bravo.

Right now the t1x has the same problem that the Centre fires had for years. A crappy factory stock with few to no options. Until the A1 chassis and Krg Bravo came out I gave tikka a hard pass. Hated the factory stock. Roberson made great stocks for the tikka but high cost and unfortunately short lived.

I will keep an eye out on the t1x but not into it until the stock situation has some options.

I got rid of all my Tikka’s but luckily I kept my Robertson and a laminated stock.

Apparently 300 T1Xs have hit the shelves in Finland. Ha anyone come across any photos of the rifle outside of he stock? I’d like to see some photos of have the magazine and mag well are set up. Bolt knob as well.

From somethings I've heard in videos, sounds like the mag well is part of the receiver. So maybe it might be kind of like the sako quad, if so this might be a good thing for chassis that take AI mags, maybe it will just sit in the AI mag well.

I signed up for RFC but am still waiting for an email to get access. I saw the pics with the Bravo a few days ago. I think it confirms what Tikka said; the T1X footprint is the same as the T3/T3X, same with the bottom metal. I’m curious about how the mag attaches.

I’m planning on putting the T1X in a Bravo as a trainer. I’ve got a .308 and a .223 in Bravos as well. I’m sure it won’t be long before someone designs an AICS pattern mag that would feed the T1X in a chassis. I’m sure the demand is there.

Sounds like a business opportunity
1st. Get a 3D printer
2nd. Design/test/produce a "sleeve" for the magazine, to fit a AICS chassis

If you've got plenty of time, you could design something like Sauer did for their 202 conversion kit

Well, after a looooooooooooooooooooooooong wait, at least one has shown up here in yUK.

'Tis said, 'All is not well in the state of Denmark' - or, in this case, Finland - as you can read from the post in a well-known British gun forum on which I also post from time to time.

The gentleman concerned had been jonesing after this rifle since it was announced, way back in the New Year, and..............well, read it yourself.

Quote - 'Well that was a bit short lived. Picked it up yesterday, returned it this morning. Lovely gun but quite a few quality issues with it. Firstly the action was quite marked up with light scratches here and there. Especially in the scope rail. Something weird was going on underneath the bluing in some places. Looked to me like rust starting to come through. Magazine was pitted on one side and looked awful to me. And to top it off, the bolt was scored. Deep enough that I could hear my fingernail clicking as it ran across it. I know that this is only a £500 [Can $860-ish] gun, but I expected better from Tikka.

Anyhoo, on the positive, it’s beautiful to shoulder, light and well balanced, lovely stock and looks better in real life than the pictures. Quality issues aside, I Like it.

Roll on September for a replacement.'

When you collect your rifle, take it out of the packaging and inspect it closely before you walk out of the door. If it's a COS, then you can ask the gun-store clerk for another one until you get what you expect from a Tikka product. However, here in the yUK that little episode is going to cost time that could have been spent shooting - at least three months, depending on which county he lives in - while he gets a variation done. See, here in yUK he bought that gun, and has the serial number indelibly reproduced on his Firearm Certificate, so returning it means that he has, in effect, disposed of the gun to a dealer. To get the thing replaced, he has to send off his FAC plus £££££££££ for a one-for-one/like-for-like variation. It will eventually come back to him with a new authorisation to acquire and possess ONE .22LR rifle/carbine, and the whole thing starts over.

I’ve thought about it but I don’t have the time or skills to invest o make it happen. I wish I did as I’m sure it really wouldn’t be difficult. All you would really need to do, depending on the width of the T1X mag, is to 3D print a mold that will enclose the mag in an AICS shell. Something simple that the consumer could simply bolt together over top of the mag that comes with the rifle and voila. Hopefully someone else will come up ilwith it and I will happily pay less than 100$ for it.

I'm hoping that the one here in UK was a one-off, and the poor guy who bought it is justifiably seriously cheesed off with Tikka right now, mainly for the trouble he has been put to because of this evidence of poor QC.

In mitigation I have to say that the next Tikka or SAKO rifle I see that is anything less than perfect will be the first one.

Why not just print a new floor plate for the Bravo chassis that allows all unaltered T1X mags to work in it.

That would work too but it would be a fix that is specific to the Bravo while an AICS pattern mag would have much wider appeal. As well, the trigger guard / mag well on the Bravo is aluminum and the action screws go through it. I don’t think plastic would be strong enough.

How much does a good 3D printer go for anyways?

He may have been one of the “lucky” ones to receive one of the 300 17hmr released world wide before their vacation. Maybe a rush job to please the disgruntled
