So last week I took the "Norinco Leap" and puchased a 1911a1 to see for myself the quality or lack there of. I figured if it was junk, then I could use it as a "project gun" and hone my budding basement gunsmith itch. So it arrived, and I had low expectations...well it exceeded expectations on fit and finish. Sure there is some dehorning to do, and some sanding and polishing that was required....but it was pretty good out of the box.
So up to the range it went for the first time today (after a full break down, clean, lube and frame/slide rail sanding and polishing) with 4 boxes of 230grn Blazer brass.
As I sqeezed the trigger the first time I was execting a hole some where on paper....BANG!....holy crap sticks, dead center! I figured It was an anomoly, so the second shot....clipped the first hole. I said to my self "self....dafuq!?!". So I figured mag dump an 8 round at 10m...well may lightning strike me on the crapper if all 8 were not in a 1 inch group.
Now I have only been pistol shooting since August, so my skill is limited...but this thing is like a freaking lazer! I put 200 rounds through it with 1ftf (my 16 yearold limp wristing) and zero fte's and no stove pipes. Too say the least I am very very impressed with the accuracy and pretty damn happy with my decision....all in all I recommend this pistol, very fun to shoot and rock solid performance. Best $350 ive spent in quite some time.
I know in the past some have had some issues with Norinco quality and performance, but I think they have stepped up their game.....
