The numbers of SKS rifles in Canada

everyone needs at least one, but it'd be better to have 2... make one 'scary looking' to make the ignorant politicians/gun control people nervous.

I think a healthy dose of SKS is 2-3, but 6 is still a ways off from overdosing :p

Need more space.. I know if I have one it would not be enough

cheap in price (for now), but NOT cheap in quality! It's the best value in the gun world, bar none. The fact that you can spend more on a POS plastic airsoft gun at Crappy Tire is more reason to keep buying them! Personally, I consider the SKS to be one of the best semi-automatic rifles ever made: uber reliable, super strong, and accurate. They look great and they carry some cold war history. Rant over. :)

Man. weimejack has a 54 izzy refurb on right now for $179. and a Chinese 56 military version,, new for $159. THERE is NO better time than right now! I don't have a Chinese version and this is a good deal!

All I've ever owned were Chinese (since the early '90s) and they all worked perfectly. I used to drag them through the bush when I worked in forestry - absolutely flawless and dependable. Dropped in swamps, packed full of hemlock and spruce needles, never cleaned - always (always) went "bang". A sling broke on me one day and the thing fell many many feet down a mountainside. I recovered it, thinking "she's done" but I pointed it in a safe direction, closed my eyes and pulled the trigger; "bang". I kept using it for years.

Ended up giving one away to a buddy; selling one to a coworker many years later for basically nothing just to get him on the program; and finally trading my last one (a "D"-box) off for an antique levergun I wanted - after I'd picked up an 858. @### (NO not giving up and rolling over on that, YES I've written letters!! just cursing)

So now I gotta pick up another one (just because I feel I ought to increase the numbers as the OP suggests - and because I do like 'em). It will be Chinese. Don't get me wrong, I think the Ruskies are BEAUTIFUL but I have full confidence in the Chinese. Only my 0.02

Happy shootin'

I think that SKS are better made than AK 47

On this site h**p://mrpogson.com/2013/11/22/just-when-we-thought-the-canadian-firearms-registry-was-dead/ there were:

71112 registered firearms chambered in 7.62x39. I would assume the vast majority of them would be SKS' based on price and availability. I assume a few hundred are AK's and there are probably some bolt guns in there as well but there are very few other guns chambered in 7.62x39.

There are 1000,s of ak,s in Canada, I know over 100 people that own them and at least 30 of them have between 3-10 one have over 50 of them.

I once owned three... I'm thinking of getting one or two again.
And an SVT looks pretty cool.

Especially after the bs in Nanaimo recently.

I got 3 already: one laminated Russia which is my first one and I use it every time when I go out shooting; one hard wood Russia; one Chinese military. The latter two were kept for SHTF. All three are in stock condition. I just love them.

It's a shame they banned AK47 and alike in Canada. They're my favorite too. :(
