That's kind of weird considering this has been out for over a year...maybe 2?

Well, I have an idea for a curing oven, and looking into finding a local dealer for Cerakote............there may be some happenings in the near future.......
I know this is a rumor but it appear to be credible can anyone confirm that the TAC 21 chassis system was used during this years
USASOC Sniper competition by the 10th SFG group
The one they were using was made up specifically for the M24. REports back were that they were very impressed with the chassis.
MDT and Amendment Arms worked with 10th to get the prototype M24 chassis into their hands for the competition. They had been using the LA version with modified 300wm mags but had unreliable feeding at times, hence the M24 chassis using 308 mags.

Of course the chassis isn't 15 pounds. Most people (including me) have put heavy barrels on the actions, so the entire kit ends up heavy.
Go to the website to see the chassis weights, and compare to the weight of a generic 700 stock:

The weight is comparable until you add an AR-15 Rifle-length RET and some type of buttstock, on which the TAC-21 is heavier. But it isn't 15 pounds.
This chassis was not designed with hunting in mind........it was designed for tactical/Precision/LE/Military type shooting............
On another note, Military snipers will drag/carry/stalk with a 13 to 15 LBS rifle through the bush/woods, and many other types of rugged terrain.........so I really don't see a weight issue.......

An AICS chassis varies from 5 lb. 5 oz. to 5 lb. 12 oz. depending on the model (according to Brownells).
I would be curious to know the weight of a take-off factory Rem 700 stock (model dependent of course).
If anyone knows the weight of a Savage Accustock I'd really like to know that as well (different project.....)

my savage in .22 weighs about 10 1/2 lbs, and that's just for squirrel hunting. I wouldn't mind carrying around a 11-14ish lb rifle as I've just gotten used to it now.

My Current "in progress" MDT-TAC21 build........
Refinished the barrelled action, bolt, and chassis in Gray/OD Gun-Kote.
Just need to source out a rifle buffer tube, Black Magpul PRS, and Black Magul MIAD Grip.........
Scope clearance with the S&B 56mm bell........

Bought one in the EE the other day....McFee barrel and action work. Had it sent directly to ATR for a Timney trigger, big bolt knob, and brake. Having them do the metal cerakote dark green, NF 5.5-22. SHould be a fun rig, I can't wait to get it out to the fields!
