The Outfitting Year in Pictures on the Wild Coast

After spending countless hours staring at spreadsheets in a room with no windows, this thread is the greatest escape. I cannot wait free weekends when I can just go sit and wander the woods again.

Sorry Brad just saw this, afraid with the new baby I'll be too short on time to put a proper effort in this year! But I certainly would love to watch it go from the sidelines, we should do one and appreciate the reminder.

And me too Greg, that's in the backyard 20 mins flying away, was testing some configurations with the plane. Stopped there with middle son last spring for a hot dog roast, he remembered as we flew over, figured we should take a closer look again. Here's the eldest exploring the coast early this spring, can't remember if I posted it but love the pic.

 
Could well be there's goats on that slope. :d

And Brad it's one of those mostly bills, upkeep, and paperwork deals that has perks that help you forget the bills, upkeep, and paperwork. Basically planes are an awful lot like women, a scary amount so. They'll bite you if you don't listen to what they're telling you too!

But they're much more adept at killing you for doing something dumb. And they're very indiscriminate about who they take with you. Had a buddy pull on his carb heat on approach and when he tried to turn it off it stayed on. Had to hang it on the prop for a few minutes while he got it sorted out. Turns out that when his annual was done they secured the cable with white zip-ties which, apparently, do not like repeated hot-cold cycles or UV light. They snapped and left the cable slack. A fairly stressful episode with two of his kids in the 'plane with him.

Truth be told. Have known about a half dozen who didn't make it home since I started in 2001-2002 between helis and fixed wings. It's easy to read the above scenario and find the human errors that put them in that position, don't apply full heat unless your nose is pointed to your landing and you can glide there, or you're at sufficient altittude to glide to a spot. Avoid flying at density altitudes and gross weights where carb heat is the difference between safe flight and not... but all this is armchair commentary that came from experiences like his. You can't foresee everything and we're human, we screw up, as you allude no such thing as a fender bender allowed in the air. The attitude you take when driving will not work, a minor lapse in judgment that in a car only means missing your turn can have dire consequences in the air. Flying can still be stressful and it should be, even after 15 years. Especially in the mountains.

Hmmmm..... our experiences with women are vastly different..... in my case, the majority of the bills, paperwork and anguish took place after I no longer had access, and she retained zero resale value..... :)

Pitt and one up Stave I didn't get the name of, poked into Widgeon but ice was still on! Imagine it's off now, has to be. Hit the little one just north of the highway and practice area for kicks on the way home, didn't cause any phone calls fortunately. I am
heading to the island is the plan thurs weather permitting.

I was up on Pitt and Alouette. I saw that Widgeon was still iced up, pretty crazy. When you say little lake north of the highway do you mean Silvermere?
