The perfect moose/elk rifle, or not...

Wow I'm impressed with his natural camo, I bet if he had sat down in the field and was still without the antlers one could walk right past him without seeing him. :)

Rem 700 XCR (stainless, TriNyte) in 300RUM topped with a Leupold VX-L 4.5x14x56mm.
Used 180 gr SwiftScirocco cartidges (polymer tipped) 4200+ ft/lbs and 3250 fps (muzzle).
Still impacts at 500 yds with 2100+ ft/lbs and 2300+ fps.

Here is a pic of my perfect elk/moose rifle/cartridge combo.

21" barreled T/C Contender Carbine 375JDJ = 260gr Accubonds @ 2300fps.

Good out to 300 yards... :D

Last year a custom Win M-70 push feed in 35 Whelen--250 grain speer @ 2500 fps.

This year, Custom pre-64 win m-70 (rebore/rechamber) .35 whelen 250 grain speer/hornady @ s5oofps.

I also use a custom Win M-70 in 300 H + H with 180 Nosler partitions from time to tiem.

Shogi, have you hit a moose with that LR hammer yet?:)

I didn't hunt moose last year, so if I go this year, I'll probably take my good ol' 300WSM with 150gr TTSX bullets.

Or I might take my 375 Ruger with 235gr TSX or 300gr Accubond bullets. Both nice rifles.:)

It's fun to try out different rifles and cartridges, although just about anything from a 30-30 to a .600 Nitro will kill a moose without too much trouble! :)

Camp you are the king of lamy-stainless:D

and I'm not done yet I now need one more to fill my safe, something between a 22-250 and a 280 Rem or 375RUM and 45-70 can't decide and should it be another single shot or another bolt action.

I must confess I really like the Thompson Contender setup. If I didn't love Marlins so much and was starting from scratch, that's the route I'd go.

You don't take both?

I don't leave home without at least 2 rifles on any hunt/trip...

Not a true gun nutz unless you have more than one rifle along... :p
