This place is starting to remind me of the local gun counter. Embarrassing.
It should be Embarrassing , for you ....YOU keep replying ....tis funny , silly , goofy
And yet, you keep posting topics you know full well you can stir the pot with on purpose..
Will sound impossible or "shocking" to some on Internet, but a very accomplished poacher that I met some years ago in West Central Sask (East of Meadow Lake) seemed to be convinced his 22 Magnum was about his most "perfect" deer rifle - not near the booming sound to get caught, doing what he did well. We had supper with him - deer meat, of course.
Often if I make a less than perfect shot, I shoot again. No point carrying those shells in the magazine for nothing.

That's a good policy. Not following it will eventually bite you on the glueous maximus.
Can usually tell how much hunting experience someone has by how adamantly they state the opposite.
If you can't make a good shot then pass on it plain and simole.
Yups . that's why the question . If you have the opportunity and can shoot the distance . Does it matter what cartridge you have in the tube . Maybe a shoulder shot "slightly off" the perfect 6.5 shot ..
Your answer is without any jam . does a 338 win make up a bit of error or shot placement over the puny 6.5 ?
